This arrived double boxed with an outer brown cardboard box measuring approx 37.5cm x 17cm x 27cm.Inside the castle is in an open front & sides box with a clear plastic piece housing King Magnifico, his daughter Asha & the Wish star from the new Disney film Wish.The castle itself is not covered by anything but you can't see inside until you take it out of the box.You need 3 x AA batteries to power the dome at the top of the castle, which will project stars onto nearby surfaces if it's dark in the room.This is a lovely little castle for smaller homes with storage issues as you can fold it closed when not being played with.Lifting the catch on the front means you can fold out the front to create a larger play space with a few fun features.On the left you have a fireplace which you can change by lifting the reveal star above it so it either has pots hanging over the fire or just the fire itself.In the centre you have a reveal star to slide across upstairs which makes King Magnificos lab equipment (a picture) pop up on his bench, or go back down again when he's finished making potions.On the left hand side there is lenticular picture which either shows King Magnifico, or Queen Amaya depending on what angle you look at it from.Castle also comes with small decorative objects to fill out the scenes in the play spaces including food, a couch/bed, pillows etc..If you are giving this to a young child, you might want to hide some of these bits as they are very small.The star of this castle is the projector dome on the top of the castle, which is a really quite magical effect & bound to be popular at bedtime with little ones.If you have any of the other mini sets, you will find the characters in them (e.g. the Teens) are sized to fit in this set too, so it is a bit expandable.The outside of the castle is beautifully decorated too, with printed images making the front look palatial & an attractive lattice wall at the back.With the new film this set is based on due to be released in the next few weeks, this could make a fabulous gift for a Disney fan this Christmas.
