Q: How wide is the the line on this "ultra fine" in millimeters?

the line for the ultra fine expo marker .2 mm wide.

Q: Why do the caps have holes in the top of them? doesn't that defeat the purpose of capping it?

The holes are required by our Safety Standard BS 7272 to prevent suffocation. If the cap is swallowed, the airway will not close off due to the holes. In regard to drying out, the holes are outside of the sealable cover so air will not touch the nib when the cap is on.

Q: Is there a trick to getting these to work for the first time? Not one in the 4 pack works.

Mine worked when I first used but then they did not work well at all. I tried flicking them cap downward which produced an excessive amount of ink in the tip but even with that, they would not write as they should!
