Q: What is the playing board made of? Some reviews talk of cardboard.

I have the Prestige version and that is not made of cardboard.

Q: Does the board turnaround or do you have to put it on its own title table

The board turns around as its base is designed such that as you move the board it circles around to next person. Really well made scrabble set, I recommend it over the standard boards as this should last you years and years. My first one is around 35 years old and still going strong. I bought this version for my daughter about 3 years ago, still like new. Imagine the base is on a turn table. We use the board on standard coffee table and works really well Highly recommend it

Q: We seemed to need a load of space toy play this game, so appears to be a waste of time, or are we doing something wrong?

After each turn you remove all the cards which are not in the new word (or sometimes 2 words) that you have created. For example if the first word down was boat and the next person makes the word able with the b of boat being the second letter - then the letters oat are taken off the table and put into the discard tray. If the next person puts a c on top of able to make cable and also makes the word cat then both new words are left on the table. If the next player puts an s on the end of cats and also makes new word seat then the able letters are discarded as they are not in the new words created.
