Hard to use cv clamp pliers
Changing the CV Boots on the car, I needed a plier clamp that would close the clamps in the kit. The handle on these are smooth plastic?, so with oil on your gloves, you have no real grip of the handels. Also, they don't seem to amplify your effort very well, so it's very tough to get the clamp to close up.... I ruined three clamp clips trying to get them on, these pliers were just too hard - your strength is wasted while the clap clips are not that hard to deform.

Don't even bother fitting a cv boot without these and some proper heavy duty ear clamps/clips
Do not even bother trying to fit CV boot ear clamps without a pair of these. I attempted with a normal pair of crimps and the clip will then come off again at some point guaranteed. Also, if you are fitting a Bailcast sticky boot DIY style, throw the clips that come with it away and buy a separate set of heavy duty clips (similar to those sold by P&A Auto products). If you don't the thin clips that come with it come off becuase 1) they are too long for a standard diameter outer driveshaft and therefore overlap too much, 2) they are too thin to take the pressure exerted by these Laser crimps and will snap/fail on one of the crimping points 3) the holes and hooks on the Bailcast ear clamps are too small and do not have the "L" shaped hook at the end. I went through Two sticky boots and 3 sets of clips before I worked this out, save yourself a lot of time and don't make the same mistakes I did!

Proper crimpers. Don't buy cheaper ones.
I had to send some cheap crimpers back, they were only good for, well not much. These have proper sharp ends (not too sharp) so they don't cut but properly squeeze and crimp the 'nobble' in the right place and keep the right shape.Definitely worth it even if you're only changing CV boots every 3-5 years.

Don't get a cheap set, get these!
I don't often review my Amazon purchased, but feel these deserve one. I initially purchased a cheaper pair on eBay and they bent on first use and didn't sit the tab down flat, which could catch on things on certain vehicles and means the band will certainly not be as strong. You really do need a great amount of pressure to tighten these clamps properly and you will notice the 1/2" socket holes on the handles of these pliers, which you may find useful if you can't get enough grip yourself. These are very well made and have a cam action on the foot that sits onto the middle of the band to keep it nice and flat, cheaper plies have the foot but it doesn't do the job, as it's not forced down with the same cam action. Skip saving a few pounds and get these, they make the band look like it was factory fitted! Great service from Amazon as always.

Really good
I bought these pliers to close the ear clamps because I had to replace my CV joint.I know these pliers are quite expensive and the cheaper ones are equal or just a little better than a carpenter pincher.I believe these ones have the minimum quality required to correcly close the clamps without losing them on the road after few kilometers. They are well built and may be they are not adequate for every day professional usage, but for the DIY works they are perfect.Replacing CV boots could be really a bad job without the right tools!
