Q: Without a door, does it tend to smell more?

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but all the same - I don't have any issues with smell whatsoever... BUT I also think the type of litter you use, along with how often you clean it makes the biggest difference regardless of box. I have 2 cats that use it besides, but I also chalk it up to my litter mix too - which is now 3/4 grass seed litter & 1/4 Garfield cassava tiny clump (as bottom layer to mostly soak up #1). I also clean it by hand (w disposable glove or baggie to get the tiniest residual - which also makes it last longer w/out having to really ever dump the whole box out) - every to every other day & I have NEVER had it smell at all - even with my ultra sensitive nose! 😄 Though I see the price has dropped too, if you have Prime its at an even better price and worth every penney. Actually back here to buy another one, since rescuing another stray. I love this box!

Q: what is the size/dimensions of this

I read the answers given by other people and I was like "Really? Can't you read?" The dimensions are 26x23x20. Remember, this is a slightly rounded triangular shape. The front (from side to side) is 26". The two sides are 23" and the height is 20". Now, since it is hooded, it is 10" for the litter box and 10" for the hood. I have one cat that loves to dig and throw the litter all over the place. Not any more! It keeps the litter inside since the walls are so high. It is rather sturdy too. One of my cats loves to jump on top of it (and he is not a lightweight by any means!). It is easy to clean and change. I didn't think much of the charcoal filter that comes in the top of the box, but it does seem to do its job. I am well pleased with this litter box as are my 3 cats!

Q: How tall is just the bottom piece?

How tall is the bottom piece at the entrance? My older large cat is having difficulty getting all the way in.

Q: How difficult is it to remove the top for cleaning?

For me, I personally leave the top on (doorway is large enough) but I also clean by hand w/ a plastic bag or rubber/ vinyl glove on my hand... much easier to get all those little specks lying around. I now have 2 strays using the same box, so I clean it every to every other day - then again, I have great litter too that makes a huge difference (Garfield brand cassava litter- a little expensive, but oh so worth it! and it's flushable, though I throw away). But even if you do use a scooper, I still don't see any need to really take the top off, which is attached by only 2 clips anyhow.
