There was no cotton liner as stated in description. There is a black foam with stamped openings for holding a ring plus two openings for holding earrings in place. I ordered these gift boxes because it had the option for next day shipping. Great but when I received this, there was no time to order another type. Yes, they are sturdy. For someone this would be a great giftbox. For my needs it was not. I had to use two foam pads,meaning two boxes worth of foam, so that I could mail out my gifts safely, and get there on time.
