Returned. Worked fine but I discovered I had recorded my pets' ID numbers on a file on my computer and the vet also had them and they agreed so I returned the device without using it.

It is easy to use for scanning, and it accurately picked up my own two cats chips I tested it with. I use it when stray cats try to live in my yard so I can try to figure out who owns them, and get them returned. One thing I wish they would improve is it needs better instructions on how to use it with your phone and bluetooth, I had to search in these reviews q & A's and review comments to find out (works with my iphone's Notes app that comes with the phone, the chip # will go to the phone when you scan, as long as you have the phone in your pocket or nearby. )

Love love love this product. I love the Bluetooth feature as scanning a homeless cat has to be subtle and quick at the same time and having the chip go directly to my phone helps a lot. It also can pick the chip up at times a few inches away which is also helpful. I've had this for years as I got tired of always having to borrow one while I was on my own hunt for my trapped and dumped furr child. I've never had to change the battery either! Battery life great! It's super durable! Definitely came to me highly recommend and it's completely worth the money!. I love the case it comes with also.

This microchip scanner is amazing. I chose this one because it reads all typed of US chips. I tested it on 6 of my own animals, who are all rescues and have chips from varying companies. It found all of them. Then the true test - I tried it on a stray dog and no chip was detected. The true value in this scanner is that you can trust that if it does not detect a chip, the animal is not chipped. With other scanners you never know if the animal is not chipped or if it is a type of chip that the scanner cannot read. Definitely worth the price.

I love this scanner! Works well, seems to work everytime. The beeper is not loud enough for me but I do have hearing loss. The only trouble I find is that I cannot find more rechargeable batteries with a USB port. I would like to have a spare. I would have purchased a Hero pocket reader to fit in my purse but wasn't sure if it would be the same quality.

This scanner is WONDERFUL! Well made, well designed, and very easy to use. I bought another, less expensive, China-made scanner, that had decent reviews and said it read all chips, including AVID chips, but it did not work at all, straight out of the box. I searched again and found HERO. It arrived yesterday, and I was able to read the chips in each of my four animals. My eldest dog has the AVID chip, and not all scanners will read this. The directions for the HERO are flawless and very easy to follow. I love that it has a Bluetooth feature. So glad I have this scanner. It's quality is top notch, and it comes in a nice zippered carrying case which makes storage super easy. **Definitely Recommend**

This unit although expensive reads every single microchip thats out there. I checked on my pet and at first I couldn't get a reading and then when I scan his left neck it,read his chip then. It comes with a carry case. I highly recommend this reader if you have the money to buy it. 5 stars
