Silhouette 12-Inch Premium Vinyl, Black

Worked great right from first time, making four 38 inch banners, and some small test signs. I viewed instructions and demos on YouTube first. You can feed it in without a cutting mat (Cameo, with the appropriate settings), and cut banners up to 6 feet long, or make a zillion smaller things.

We use this vinyl for glass etching and it works great. The method we use is cutting out the image from this black vinyl first, then applying it to the glass and putting etching cream on it. Considering we'd never done it before, the vinyl helped to make the glasses look really good. It stays on well unless you make something way too small.

Good quality rolls that fit the Silhouette machine well. The material is good quality and it is easy to use.

Very disappointed. This vinyl was very thin, and it was not sticky enough for the cut outs to stay adhered to the backing. I followed the instructions and it did not cut properly. At first I started with a smaller fancier font. I thought this might be the problem so I tried a larger block letter font. It worked better but still did an unacceptable job. To make a long story short I tried 6 different times trying various things, changing the blade settings, changing the speed and thickness settings, even using the double cut, and trying the cutting mat, and nothing worked. It looked great when I took it out of my machine, (I could read the words that were cut out) but when I tried to remove the black vinyl from the backing, everything came up including much of the lettering. So this vinyl could work if your project is a single item, or a few items of a reasonable size (so you could force them individually to stay on the backing), but there was no way I could force the letters to stay stuck to the backing. I threw away and wasted a lot of this roll of vinyl. I suppose I could use it to make a single item, like a heart, or a star, but I really wanted to use the black for lettering. Perhaps it would work for extremely large lettering.

I like the vinyl. It gets the job done, but it is a little difficult to work with. If you have something smaller that you are trying to cut, many times the vinyl peels up during cutting. It makes things rather difficult when you want something precise.

I love my silhouette and all it's products. This is no exception. It cuts easily, the excess comes quickly. It has helped me make some beautiful projects including home decor. A more satiny finish, or a matte even. I like that it isn't glossy. Having white walls and glossy vinyl just doesn't appeal to me. A great product and gorgeous results! :-)

Easy to use and good product. Love the peel away backing that makes it easy to stick on! Great buy!

Vinyl is fun to work with and the Silhouette cuts it perfectly. Glad they sell Black by itself because it is a color I will use a lot.
