Works great.
Works great and much less expensive than the red one from radio shack.

Parts is parts!
I only buy these for the parts. The tank is far too small. Thus I pipecutter the top off about a half inch below the gas flow twist. I then fashion a bigger tank from either an expired bigger butane torch, or use whatever [those hand soap bottle type dispensers work well. I then make a hole the same size diameter as the top part of the torch. Next I remove the filler valve from the botyom of the cut in half parts torch, and afgix it into the small hole I drilled in the bottom of the large jug. Next I seal all the parts into their designated fitting holes. And seal it w/ JB Weld. I allow everything to set and cure for 2 days. After that, I fill the jug w/ multi filtered butane. And off I go. Works for weeks before it needs refilling. I'd show yuh all a picture, but Amazon insists that I allow it full access to.my fotos and storage. Haw! As if.

No Instructions for Assembly or Use
When the device arrives there are no instructions. The torch head is attached to the main body and the soldering head is loose in the package. It is not obvious how to install the soldering head. When I tried to remove the torch head, it came off with the screw part still attached to it. These are actually two separate parts but look like one part. This leaves two female fittings (one in the body and one in the soldering head). I was thinking WTF? After several attempts to assemble, I finally used pliers to hold the screw part and got the torch head off the screw part. The soldering head could then be attached to the screw part.I have not tried using it yet because i don't have butane cartridge.

Worked for 20 seconds, then only leaked and wasted Butane
After reading mixed reviews, I thought I would give this a shot. That was a mistake. The first light up went fine, but I noticed that it spent all of the butane rather quickly.I figured I hadn't closed the seal properly, so I tried again. Turns out, there really isn't a seal, and the butane just leaks out.Complete waste of money and butane.

You get what you pay for, but it's good
This is definitely a $15 tool. The construction feels a bit cheap and I'm always afraid of turning it on in my bag and leaking butane everywhere. It works well, though. Both the torch and solder tip work as expected. It's fiddly to get the adjustment right, going back to the cheap construction. You aren't going to get a precise temperature or flame size.Mostly, it could really use a small instruction booklet. The torch is pretty straightforward, but the solder tip isn't quite as intuitive (you turn it on and light the area directly under the tip until the coils glow).Overall, decent for the money. I'm a bit afraid of carrying it around, and afraid of losing the tips, but it's nice to have in my bag, nonetheless.

Cheap but good for a few minets at least.
Nice little unit, worked good the few times I was able to use it. The catalyst started to get burnt up after only 10 min of use and a little after that it would not take fuel. Took a chance it was cheap enough and I never thought it would last long but less than 20 min total use is sad.

Does the job
I had this exact item for over 10 years before it finally died. I was lucky to find the same model and at a great price. I use it for creme brulee and to melt various toast toppings. I don't need anything bigger or fancier. I had ordered a different model with an automatic starter and sent it back because I couldn't get it to work and it came with no instructions. This one is easy to use. After you turn it on it must be exposed to a flame to ignite it but I don't find it an inconvenience.

The Super-Multitask Mini-Torch
I liked the soldering torch for several reasons. First, the rotational flame adjuster was very precise and smooth allowing me to minutely adjust the heat to perform each task. Second, it was very easy to change from the soldering tip to the torch tip with no tools required, once it had cooled down of course. Third, the torch tip was perfect for installing heat-shrink butt connectors in the wiring harness of my customers motorcycle. It is the perfect instrument to perform many different tasks around my shop and beyond.
