Numark NDX800 Professional MP3/CD/USB Player And Controller

The Numark NDX800 is a great piece of dj equipment. It functions as a cdj, a usb storage controller, and a midi controller. I primarily use mine with 4gb usb drives, with cd's in the loader for backup and haven't had any problems. I haven't tried the midi control function yet, but my understanding is it works best with traktor. The pitch controls are solid and it has a key lock so you can adjust the pitch without the vocalist sounding like a chip monk. It has a start and stop time controller to give it an authentic vinyl feel. It also has a reverse and bleep function, which is nice for when you're playing at places with kids or something where cursing wouldn't be appropriate. There are 2 loops you can have set up; they can be picked on the go. Also with the loops you can cut them down or extend theme, I love to cut it shorter and shorter so it gets louder and faster, putting in some great build up in to a song. There are 3 hot cue buttons to make cues on the fly; this is particularly great for those that like to do drumming with their songs. Lastly you can store 3, 5 second samples. The display is very well laid out and bright, and the controls to browse through songs are very functional and seamless. Also the unit has a bpm counter, which of course everyone loves to have. You can save cues so that when you load up a song again you can load previously set cues. On the FX side of things the unit has a good range of effects, echo, flanger, phaser, ect. You can control the intensity, frequency, and wet/dry. The buttons are very responsive, which is great because you don't want an unresponsive cue/play button. The jog wheel functions as both a pitch bender and a scratcher when put in vinyl mode; I'm not one for scratching but it seems great, with no drift and the jog wheel is a pretty good size. Unit also has a search mode to quickly move through a song. The cd loader is VERY fast and is a slot, with a little light over it, useful when playing in the dark. Also all the buttons are backlit. So far I've had a great time with my pair, and would recommend these to anyone, new or old because for the price you won't find any better.

I bought this for my son, and he's used it consistently for side gigs but just recently had a small problem with it electronically. I think he has worked out the problem as the warranty ran out (I recommend getting an extended warranty as this is a pricey unit at $400.). He would buy another if he had the money since it does such a great job. I did buy him a second unit as well since he loves the turntable despite the one glitch and is willing to get it fixed since he enjoys what it provides overall for his needs as a DJ. He is using a Numark NDX400 version I also bought for him as a birthday gift as a backup as the Numarks are by far an outstanding product in the field.

Für den Preis, ist der NDX800 sehr gut. Die Gehäuse Dimensionen sind etwas zu Groß und das Display ist beim Navigieren durch Verzeichnissen überfordert. Der Rest ist wirklich toll. Für Zuhause oder in kleinen Bars&Cafes bestens einsetzbar. Die Midi Funktionen sind OK. Absolut Top ist die Fähigkeit direkt von HFS bzw HFS+ Dateisystemen lesen zu können. Wer seinen USB am Mac formiert hat, kann hier bedenkenlos den NDX800 mit Musik füttern. Eine Möglichkeit zum erstellen und/oder verwalten von Playlists gibt es leider nicht. Man darf jedesmal nach dem PowerOn die Playlist von Hand neu einstellen, was bei dem schwachen Display grausam ist. Eine Software für den Computer oder PC wäre hier wünschenswert. Bei dem Preis darf man solche Features wohl nicht erwarten. Die Relay Funktion scheint mit einem einfachen Stereo Kabel nicht zu funktionieren. Numark schreibt aber leider auch nirgends was für ein Kabel den als "Relay Kabel" eingesetzt werden kann.Alles in allem ein ordentliches Gerät. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis passt. 4/5.

I work at a doctors office where I am a registered technologist operating multi million dollar eqpt like CT scanners, linear accelerators etc. So naturally I'm the resident tech head.We play music overhead and have gone through many CD players over the years.Like VCR players the CD player appears to be ignored by the manufacturers. I guess its all about mp3 now.I gave up on looking for a well made CD player and started the search for a commercial grade music player.I was prepared to have to spend quite a bit more and was impressed when my search turned up the Numark NDX800 Professional.I liked the idea that it plays from any USB device and ordered an 8GB flash drive while I was at it.I copied a bunch of my mp3 files to it when it arrived and it has been playing non stop since.It comes with a well written instruction manual so even a non pro DJ like me can figure out the advanced options (I don't bother with them).The first test was to see how well the random function worked since the last 2 CD players we had failed to play in random while still new.Time will tell but so far so good.Oh yeah, the single CD player works well though I don't think it will get much use.

If you're like me and can't afford those Pioneere products, this is a great alternative. Amazing FX's and mixing tools. Better to buy something cheap and break it than something expensive.
