Fun collaborative storytelling with a strategic element
I got this game for Christmas and expected it to be painfully cheesy. As it turns out, I really enjoy it and have gotten in 7 or 8 plays in just a couple months. A lot of attention to detail is put into the consequences of the choices you make for your fictitious couple. You can play strategically or just develop the storyline down the creative path that interests you the most. This is NOT couples therapy in a box. Nor is it one of those hokey attempts at foreplay or truth-or-dare. It’s a storytelling cue with gamified elements and multiple objectives. The game is metacooperative: it is possible for both players to win, or only one, or neither. And in all three cases, an entertaining story is likely to have been created by the end—when you will be dying to share each other ls secret motivations for your more unorthodox/inexplicable choices. Most importantly, this game can be played enjoyable and comfortably by ANY two players, not just romantic partners. It really is a game of improv-acting a relationship, not a flirtation vehicle. You could certainly turn it into that—and there is a kind of intimacy and rapport that is built by playing—but I’ve now played it with 7 different people, male and female, most of whom I have no romantic interest in nor vice versa, and all were fun. Don’t reserve it for date night! Play it with your funniest friend, your weirdest friend, your most randomly manic friend. I usually prefer games with deeper strategy than this initially appears to have. But, to its credit, it definitey has unplumbed depths. I think probably there are workable strategies I have yet to even uncover. Especially since each module/story adds new rules and options to gameplay. This gradual introduction to game mechanics, as well as an excellently written instruction book, keep the rules from being overwhelming. Yet, with the exception of the first play through, it never feels like you are wasting your time on practice tutorials. Each subsequent game is thematically complete and sufficiently varied to make for lots of replayability.

A great game for couples with imaginations!
I bought this for my boyfriend who loves board games. I heard about this game from a TikTok and I had to check it out. It was a bit of a learning curve, as this had many rules but leave much to the players to discuss. My only note would be that the game is set up so that you play as a random character with traits, so not as yourself and your partner. You can definitely choose characteristics that match yourselves, but it is also fun to play people very unalike yourselves. I would recommend this game to any couple that enjoys "people watching" and making up stories for people they might see while out for dinner or in public. It's kind of like that, but on an entirely different level. Pros: - The "tutorial" was super helpful, as they list all the instructions in order. - If you enjoy coming up with stories and characters, this will be very fun - It's a great date night game and offers lots of replayability - There are versions for same-sex couples and other couplings that are very accessible and inclusive Cons: - It can feel a bit repetitive once you get through all the stories - The goals can get a bit confusing towards the end, as there are individual and couples' goals - If your partner is not very imaginative, or you just follow the cards only (don't create stories and talk about situation implications, how your characters would react) it can get boring quickly Overall, we will keep playing and enjoying this game to engage our imaginations!

For LARPers & RPGers who are looking for a comedic board game
First off, it's important to know that this game is for people who are used to RPGs, MOOs, MUDs, collaborative storytelling and LARP type games. If you're not familiar with those types of games and just getting really creative about your character, this game won't be fun and the layout will be confusing. The game itself is well designed. The various storylines, character traits, character features, and occupations allow for you to really create a cool different character and really makes you think outside your comfort zone of character creation. The instructions are difficult to follow (especially if you're not familiar with this type of tabletop game). I highly recommend the following: 1. When setting up the game - DO NOT SHUFFLE THE CARDS. The tutorial cards and other cards you need are strategically placed in a specific order so you can set up and learn from the tutorial. (Cards you think are missing are in the Sweet, Serious, and Drama packs and in specific order so the tutorial cards help you set up the play the game. 2. Watch the 20 minute Fog of Love YouTube Tutorial. It's a quick guide to understand the basics of the game. The instructions in the game are a little confusing - and the tutorial quickly cleared things up. We had the game set up in 30 minutes and played through the first story in about an hour. We had a great time and made small adjustments on how we plan to proceed on character creation and background stories etc. 3. The only thing I would say this game needs is a large clear printed page at start - when opening the box - that states you should not shuffle the cards. And play through the tutorial for set up and initial game play. Honestly we have had so much fun playing this game - but I can understand why some of the other reviews are that of frustration. If you are not used to this kind of game (which requires a lot of setup and getting used to with all the rules) the instructions do not make it easy for initial set up and understanding. Instructions could be clearer. But overall a fun game for those looking to RP without having to have a GM or creating a long campaign. And for those looking for a funny ridiculous way to play out romantic comedy.

Lots of fun
I am having a great time playing this with my wife. Yes, it is a little complicated, but the tutorial scenario walks you through how to play pretty well. She is not much of a gamer and understood how to play pretty quickly. It feels very well put together and not like a waste of $50.
