Makita LXFD03Z 18V Cordless LXT Lithium-Ion 1/2-in Cordless Drill Driver (Tool Only)

Love this drill!! I have used my 18V Cordless Black and Decker for about 7 or 8 years now, still works great, but now that I am starting to get into wood working/carpentry, thought that I would need to step it up a bit. Read some reviews and some sites that compare the different cordless hand drills, and found that this one was the most liked and highest rated for the price. Very powerfull!! Double LED light works great, just an awesome tool.Down fall is the attachment that holds the drill bits that it comes with, not a big deal, but if it is something that it came with, I would think that Mikita would have thought of this, but when you attach it to the drill with the small screw that it comes with, you can attach it on either side, but no matter which side you put it on, the direction that you insert the bits, is facing down when you are using the drill horizontally, and it does not click or snap in place, so when you are drilling, sometimes the bits fall out. I decided to try to fix it by using some pliers to squeeze the attachment so that the plastic teeth that hold it in place are tighter, however after time, it loosens up and they fall out again. Again, not a big issue, you don't have to put the attachment on, I am probably going to take it off since I use different bits on it for different types of screws and drill bits, but would be nice if it was designed a little better.Overall, I would recommend this tool.

Purchased the LXFD03Z Drill back in July to add a more powerful drill to my 18v collection. I use the tools for work. I do handyman services and small remodeling jobs. I own 10 older 110v Makita tools, ranging from 20 to over 30 years old and all working fine and 8 other 18v tools, which I have purchased over the last 2 years. In general, I am very satisfied with Makita tools. I did find it somewhat disappointing that this drill died after only about 7 months. It appears to be quite heavy duty and worked well. Maybe just a defect ... brought it to a local Makita Authorized Service Center (it's obviously under warrantee) and we'll see what they find.

This is one heck of a cordless drill! Torque to spare for all uses, excellent battery life. I put 300 x 3.5 deck screws in my deck this weekend and this drill made short work of it. I highly recommend this one! Yes, it is expensive especially after adding a few spare batteries and a rapid charger, but it if you have the need for very high torque from a drill, this is an excellent choice.

I bought thi as a body only tool to replace another that the gears had gone in speed two on me. Due to my own misuse.However while I standby Makita I find this version seems to drain the batterys 2-3 time quicker than previous version even though they are the same batteries.Also when they die, it does without warning causing drill bits to become lodged in material, very annoying. Sort it out Makita this is not the usual 5* standard I expect.

First LTX drill remodeled two condos, a dental office, and a ton of other projects across 5+ years. Heavy use on heavy duty projects. I almost held a wake when the motor finally burned out on my original. Purchased an exact replacement because it was so good to me over the years. Highly recommend.

Somewhat heavier than the bdf452, it's predecessor and slightly fiddly to change from forward to reverse and vice a versa otherwise another excellent tool from Makita

We use this for turning the adjuster for basketball hoops, from first grade players to the high school height. The AD is happy, no arm pain, just pull the trigger and it works!
