Great in smoothies and cold-brewed coffee
Great carob powder. Best I've tried yet.Carob has calcium and Cacao has magnesium, which is necessary for the absorption of calcium. Use together for maximum effect.I use this in a couple different recipes.Chocolate Almond Smoothie1-2 cups Raw Almonds (Soaked overnight)1-2 tbsp carob powder1-2 tbsp raw cacao powder (Pure Natural Miracles brand is my fav by far)1 tbsp raw honeybee pollen granulesmaca powder, protein powder (Vega brand is my fav)liquid stevia, cinnamon and vanilla to tasteAdd ice and blend until smooth and creamy. (You'll need a big powerful blender)Yummy!Cold-Brewed Homemade Mocha Java2-3 cups cold brewed Coffee (super easy to make yourself)1 tbsp carob powder1 tbsp raw cacao powder (Pure Natural Miracles brand is my fav by far)1 tbsp raw honeybee pollen granulesprotein powder (Vega brand is my fav)liquid stevia, cinnamon and vanilla to tasteBlend until smooth, then pour in glass and add boiling water. (I shake it up in a mason jar)(Don't blend with boiling water, otherwise it will explode and burn you!!)Homemade Mocha Java! Yummy!

Great Product for Flavor and More....
I got this product yesterday and really like it. I mixed it with "peanut flour" (de-fatted, ground peanuts), coconut oil, and coconut milk and made truffles. They were delicious. I was skeptical of the reports that the carob powder was sweet on its own because I have such a sweet tooth and am usually adding plenty of stevia when everyone else is quite content. However, it truly was sweet and I added nothing.I did not react to it like I do cocao powder either. So, I'm off to develop some protein bar recipes with it!Update:This product helps keep my gastritis at bay. I had read it can do that, but didn't give it that much credence and certainly did not buy it thinking it could help. After using this a few months, I definitely have more tolerance for acidic foods.I've started using it to make protein bars with the "peanut flour," pumpkin seed protein powder, carob powder, almond butter, small amount of raw cacao nibs, and mix with either coconut or almond milk. I make a mixture dry enough to form into bars, put them in plastic wrap, and freeze them so I have them to grab on the go.

Poor quality
Complete garbage. Got approved for my refund, mailed it back and now they have the product back and said they won’t give me my money back because it’s been over 30 days. Not sure how that works. I won’t order anything from them again!

Good but not raw - lightly roasted
Great tasting natural and organic carob powder from Spain. However, I am fairly confident this is not raw, it is lightly roasted. Raw carob is left in an outdoor shaded/slightly sunny location covered with a cloth to dry naturally over several days. Then is grounded to a powder. This one looks like it was dehydrated in an oven or dehydrator which means most of the nutrition and antioxidants are destroyed. For this reason it looses a star. For really raw carob powder, search for just that ' really raw', it should be less of a fine powder.

Carob is nothing like chocolate!
I tried Carob powder because I encountered Carob in the Mediterranean. No one was collecting it there though and I only found out later that it was supposed to taste like chocolate which made me curious enough to buy this product. Let me state this vehemently up front: It does not taste like chocolate at all! What's reminiscent of chocolate is the color and the texture when stirred into milk but the flavor surely has nothing to do with chocolate. If I'd compare it in flavor to anything I'd say it reminds a bit of dried fig. Note I am not writing about a roasted/toasted carob product here as I have never tried that. I'm not saying this is a bad product but people should stop describing it as a good substitute for chocolate. That's just a marketing gimmick. If chocolate flavor with lower calories is what you are after this is the better product to buy: Viva Labs - Organic Cacao Powder. It's available on this very website and has a rich bitter chocolate flavor. Combined with a bit of Vanilla milk it makes a phenomenal mocha;)

superfine texture, excellent flavor
All raw organic carob is not the same. Swanson's is a fine, consistent powder with a wonderful flavor that comes through when I mix it in the chopper/blender with berries, chia seeds and walnuts. Not sure of Swanson's sourcing of the carob, and imagine that the source is other than another brand of raw carob I have from a local store that comes from Turkey, and is somewhat granular and uneven in texture and with a different but good flavor as well. Prefer the Swanson's, but wish it didn't come in a plastic jar, both for the sake of the environment and my pocketbook. At any rate, I've re-ordered 2, with the shipping charge two for the price of one.

Quite spendy and not the best flavor. I use to be able to get this bulk at the health food store and this just doesn't taste quite the same. Not much of a chocolate taste.

Delicious and Smooth!
I've had carob powder products before and they were just okay. Swanson Organic Carob powder is delicious. When making a hot carob drink, I like it better than hot chocolate. It tastes creamy and more like milk chocolate, which I personally prefer over dark chocolate. I use sugarfree almond milk and add a little stevia and pure coconut sugar for extra sweetness, to my taste. But it can be made with anything you choose, including milk. If you wanted a richer deeper flavor you can just add more carob to your taste.I have not yet used it for baking. I've always liked carob and you cannot find many ready-made products anymore like carob chip cookies etc. So I likely will try to bake something.Dark chocolate does not agree with my system and I can only eat milk chocolate in moderation. I am happy to find a substitute that for me is perfect.
