I have to pull myself into the wheelchair. Would this help me get in?

I don't think it will help you get into the wheelchair in fact because it is an inch or so thick it might make the transition a bit harder. However once you are in your wheelchair if you are sitting on this you will be very comfortable that I can tell you for sure. I use mine on my recliner and I am always comfortable .

The pad itself has rubberized bumps on bottom to keep from sliding. Will the cover make the surface slippery to slide off the wheelchair?

No, the cover is rubbery as well. It works great for my mom.

Does cover interfere with the cushion?

no interference. high end cushion would highly recommend
