Well-bound book, good translation, OK materials
The book itself:For the price I paid, this is a well-made book. The cover looks classy and feels comfortable, the pages are thin but not see-through or overly delicate. This feels like a bible that will last me many years. Really like the distinctive pattern on the leather. I appreciate the two ribbons for saving multiple spots, though I personally could use a few more (but hey, that's what old church bulletins are for). The translation:This is my first experience with the CSB, I've previously had KJV, NKJV, NIV, NASB, and a few other paraphrases. I feel like this translation is pretty solid, very readable, but not watered down. Seems like when the pastor says (reading from the NKJV) "this passage is better translated as....", the CSB already renders it that way. I appreciate that they consistently have footnotes with textual variants or alternate translations. I would recommend this translation to anyone who wants to understand the Bible. The study notes:These are OK, but not what I personally prefer. What I want from study notes are (1) historical, linguistic, or cultural context, or (2) possible interpretations of hard verses. What I don't really want are (3) standard blandishments on fairly straightforward verses, especially if they're overly opinionated or theologically partisan. This bible offers some of 1 & 2, but not as much as I'd like, and a bit more 3 than I care for. Many of the comments are slanted Calvinist, but not overly so. The articles scattered throughout the text are mostly aimed at life application rather than additional information; they're fine, just not what I find useful. What I'm really missing most in this bible are cross references. The study notes sometimes have them, and there will usually be a footnote if the NT outright quotes the OT, for example; but the good old cross-references you see in other bibles are missing.Additional Materials:In the back you get the usual assortment of color maps, a fairly useful index, a reading plan, table of weights and measures, a harmonization of the gospels, and some more articles. All good stuff, though pretty standard in a study bible. Some of it's a bit redundant in the age of Google, but then again some of us like to put the screens away at Bible study time.Bottom line:This will probably be my Bible for many years to come. I'm sold on the translation, and this copy seems like it will hold up. Not super excited about the study notes, but they'll do.

A great, READABLE reference Bible.
I own a lot of Bibles and, being happily retired, read part of Scripture every day. I always seek to understand God's word as fully as possible. Even though I own a number of translations and reference Bibles, this is the one I read most often. Everything in Scripture is fully explained: clear explanations of what the text means, alternative readings, excellent reference articles, etc. Additionally, there are excellent maps, various reading plans, etc. -> This Bible is worth far more than its price <-If you can let go of thinking that the King James translation is the only true Bible and really want to understand God's message, this is the Bible to use.

Superior!
This is an excellent, easily affordable Study Bible. I enjoy the CSB because it is easy to read, on about the same reading level as the NIV. I used to like the NIV, but some of the changes in the 2011 revision are not my cup of tea. What particularly disturbs me is that the verses following John 3:16 are not in red letter (or quotes), suggesting they were not the continuation of Jesus' dialog, but rather commentary by John.Getting back to the CSB, the notes, articles, and other study material in this Bible are outstanding. I highly recommend it.By the way, I know that the description says the font size is 10 point. Even the publishers website says the font size is 10 point, however, it looks more like eight point to me.

An outstanding bible for daily use
The CSB Everyday Study Bible is a fantastic resource for many purposes, making it likely you will turn to it every day.The font is an eminently readable 9.5pt type, allowing a high degree of comfort when immersing yourself in the text for long periods of time.If you wish to read only God's word, the formatting makes it simple. Study notes, articles, and other intercalary materials are presented with a shaded background and sans-serif font to easily differentiate them from the primary text. When you want to dive deeper into context, culture, language, and connections, there is an impressive selection of the Holman study notes in the footnotes for a bible of this size. Comparing it side-by-side to the full sized study bible, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much material was retained (being personally fond of the Holman notes, I'm glad to have them in a portable format.) In addition, there are several essays, character profiles, illustrations, and doctrinal highlights presented throughout the text. All this comes in a handsome package of surprisingly convenient size. The leatherlike cover is attractively tooled and pleasing to the touch. The packaging states that the binding is Smyth-sewn, so it should hold up well over time. It does not lay flat, but is sufficiently flexible for easy reading and will likely improve with use. My only complaint is that the paper could be more opaque, but the reasonable weight (comfortable in the hand) and size of the bible (fits well into a standard medium-sized bible cover) are well worth the trade off.Holman named this bible well--it will definitely be my new everyday go-to.

Beautiful Bible, well done articles, easy to read and informative!
I love this Bible! The beautiful leather is eye catching, the Word inside is infinitely better! The articles are incredibly well done, along with the maps in the back. If you’re a new believer looking for a way to read the Word, buy this Bible! The commentary is extremely helpful!
