One of my favorites!
I was looking for a good anti-histamine cookbook and found it in this! The recipes are delicious. One thing I appreciate is that once you get the flours that you need, it’s the same in most of the recipes. I also like that some are quick and easy!

Excellent resource with scientific explanations
I was a little suspicious when a friend suggested my allergy, asthma, sinusitis, and reflex symptoms could all be connected to what I was eating, in addition to known environmental causes. Well, after reading the evidence for myself, she’s right. This cookbook gave me the tools to start reframing how I see food, how I cook for my family, and how I feed my own body. Not only is a low-inflammatory diet possible, but I’m hopeful I’ll see results. I’ll come back and edit this review after I’ve been on the diet for a few months. But I can cross-check the high histamine foods with my list of food allergens and there’s a 100% match.

Well laid out, beautiful photos, and great recipes!
We absolutely love this book! The recipes are delivered in a beautifully laid out manner. The intro that goes over the basics of how to make the most of the book is very helpful. It’s really great that a lot of the recipes don’t take any longer than our usual routines. My partner has to deal with MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome) and having low histamine recipes to choose from makes dinner more enjoyable for us as a family. I was hesitant at first about going low histamine but it’s easy to do so with the help of meal planning and having such a variety to choose from for recipes. Well laid out, beautiful photos, and great recipes!

Great Information and Delicious Recipes
I was very excited to receive this cookbook! I found the information in the introduction about the anti-inflammatory diet, and the foods list very informative (and I like that there is a reference section so I can read more). The what to eat / what to avoid section is a super helpful quick reference guide (since I am new to this) that I can check before jetting off to buy ingredients and groceries. So far I have made two recipes, and bought ingredients for a few more. Both the Roasted Carrot & Garlic Hummus and the Blueberry Corn Muffins are delicious. Today I had the muffins for breakfast and the carrot hummus with sliced vegetables for lunch. Based on how quick and easy the recipes are that I have tried, I plan to make these recipes part of my daily lunch and dinner routine. Next on my list is the vegan pesto (with penne and asparagus). I am particularly excited that the pesto is vegan and nut free since that caters to several of my friends food allergies and dietary preferences. This is quickly becoming my favorite cookbook and I highly recommend it!

Easy to Make, Good Tasting Recipes
The anti-inflammatory diet was recommended by my allergist MD after I broke out in hives for a month straight (ugh!), so I picked up this cookbook. I'm so glad I did, because this contains a lot of really good tasting recipes that I never would have made otherwise. Not only did the hives go away (yay!) but I found some easy to make recipes that even my family loved. The ingredients in all of these recipes are easy to find in any store, and even the novice cook can follow the easy instructions. Photos with each recipe (love that!) and the recipe turns out just like the photos. The recipes are simple and plain (for immune health) with a limited number of ingredients, and tasty. This will be a cookbook I use forever, as part of our regular kitchen. Very pleased!

Saved my life (or at least gave it back to me)
After 2 years of being told by doctors that "histamine doesn't have anything to do with it," I diagnosed myself with histamine intolerance and took action on my own. I have the "rare" symptoms - mood issues and insomnia - and miraculously, my condition has significantly improved with DAO supplements and a low histamine diet. This cookbook has been a tremendous help; there are some typos and a few errors, but it is FULL of useful information and good ideas. To all you food snobs out there, I wasn't looking for anything fancy or interesting, I was simply looking for recipes that wouldn't make me sick and were not too difficult or time consuming to make. I would have been lost without this guide (I would not have known how to make 'safe' alfredo sauce or blueberry muffins, nor would doing so have even occurred to me), and it has been so comforting to know my problem is real and that there are solutions. My only complaint is all the oats and kale involved. I don't tolerate fiber very well, so I've had to make some substitutions. But otherwise, I am very, very pleased.

Recipes for baked goods do not turn out
I’m not so crazy about this cookbook. I’ve made many of the recipes and the baked goods just never seem to turn out. I’m experienced in the kitchen and have been cooking all of my life. In the past year I’ve switched to the anti-inflammatory diet and this cookbook seemed appealing. I would not recommend it although the savory recipes make sense and turn out well. As a foodie, I’m looking for a bit more inspiration (not just healthy eating) in the cookbooks I purchase.
