Highly recommend!
I was recently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, and have been trying to figure out what foods I should be eating and which I should try and avoid in order to help my colon not become so irritated. I have found this book extremely helpful, not just in the recipes but also in the medical information presented in the first part. Unlike other IBD "cookbooks", this one actually gives you detailed and accurate information about different diseases, medications and treatments, and basically what it all means for those suffering with IBD. The recipes are super easy to follow with ingredients that are not exotic or difficult to find (and I live in a small town with limited grocery options). I absolutely love how each recipe has info about what you can swap ingredients for if you are flaring or trying to avoid or increase specific nutrients in your diet. I also love how this book explains why certain ingredients are used so that you know not just how to make IBD-friendly meals but also why you are using certain things to make those meals. This is a wonderful tool for anyone looking to increase their knowledge about IBD and IBD recipes.

Must read book on UC
Diagnosed about a month ago with UC. I did research online and purchased a few books. This is by far the best 101 course in understanding UC or Crohn's. The first 100 pages of the book give you information on both diseases. It is organized in a clean and simple way to walk you through what you need to know to have a basic understanding of symtoms to treatments and in between. The rest of the book is recipes. I've made a few and they are great.Recommendations: Orange Oatmeal Scones on page 127Chicken Burgers page 219 - use turkey, leave out the lemon zest, add 1/8 cup chopped white onions, add 2 tablespoons almound flour, add 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed, add 2 tablespoons shredded parmesan -- shape into 8 meatballs -- cook in oven with some olive oil (about 20 mins at 375) one of the best meatballs i've ever had

Good book if you've been recently diagnosed with Crohns and ...
Good book if you've been recently diagnosed with Crohns and are little lost . I know when I was diagnosed I felt lost, I didn't know what to eat and my mom didn't know what to cook. This book Includes information for treatment and nutritional values for foods. Be aware that crohns affect each individual in different ways and you might not tolerate certain ingredients in the recipes. I was disappointed that there weren't pictures of the dishes but I'm sure they're tasty. Can't wait to try them.

Lot's of information
This book is so helpful getting to understand and learn how to deal with my new diagnoses. The recipes are very helpful, not only are they for when you are healthy, but it explains what to change or omit during a flare-up. Definitely a good purchase for me

Helps provide a variety of meals for those with UC.
I have ulcerative colitis. My wife was getting frustrated in preparing different meals that I could eat. This book has helped her prepare a wide variety of meals. The only problem is many of these recipes use more spices than I used when I was well. However, they taste just fine without the spices.

Ok resource.
Good information, but recipes contain too many foods if you are experiencing a flare up.

Very helpful for older adults.
Easily explains symptoms and treatment opinions. Helps you to know the questions to ask your Doctor and how to modify your eating habits to feel better.

First 100 pages are great. Don't buy for recipies
After months of still being undiagnosed with crohns or ulcerative colitis this book was a great informative read. The recipes are a bit pointless...almond crusted chicken...seriously? If the book is for someone suffering from an IDB who cannot have these types of foods why would it be in the book? There is a special note at the bottom of each page for recipes like this that says "if following a low residue diet don't use ..." I found it to be frustrating being reminded of things I could no longer eat. However, like I said it has great information on both diseases from the symptoms to the surgeries sometimes required to fix them and the medications. Also, had some good information on malnutrition. I still recommend the book, just about the first 100 pages though.
