Hoodman HD350 Video Hi-Def 16x9 LCD Camcorder Hood

Works great on Sony PMW-X70. It fits nice and tight and secure---no wobbling, yet folds up flat for storage. Very simple solution to the glare problem anywhere there is glare the fold out monitor. I do not use any screen touch commands, so I have no complaint about it being too deep. In fact, its deepness is an essential plus, since it wouldn't work well if it was shallow..

Shades the 3.5" screen of the Sony AX700 well in bright sunlight, fits well and stays put with its velcro straps. It folds flat and stores neatly in the camera bag. I've also forced this larger one into play on my 3" Sony 790 camcorder screen and although its sloppy and doesn't fit as well, it still does the job. I think that since the bottom of the HD350 is the same depth as the top and not cut back with diagonal sides like many of the other makes, it shades better and is darker in there. However I think the the angled side models would allow you to get a finger in contact if you have a touchscreen. This one is too deep to reach the screen with fingers and I use a dedicated pencil type eraser when I need to touch the screen. That's the only con. My shade has only a small Hoodman logo on a tag and is not conspicuous like others have commented on. Maybe the large garish logo was on earlier models.

All Hoodman Hoods do as their descriptions say. This one fit my camcorder fine and it keeps the sun off the display. My problem was my reflection showing up on the display. If I'm standing in bright light my face is lit up and I can only see my face in the display. This is what I was trying to correct. This product won't do that unless you put your eye right up to the hood like a view finder. If stray light enters (which it will) your eye reflection will still show up but the display can be seen a little better. Manufactures building cameras or camcorders without view finders are not doing us any favors.

I got this for the back LCD on my Canon c100. It works very well and fits nicely around the screen, making it a LOT easier to shoot in the open daylight. I use it all the time, and it hasn't let me down so far.

The hood does a good job keeping bright outdoor light off the camcorder's flip out screen. I do much of my filming outdoors and the hood is a must-have. My regret is not getting one sooner.

Disappointed in the product. My SONY camcorder has a 3 1/2 inch display. The product fit. Was easily installed, but in high light conditions, the viewfinder was still difficult to see because the square design of the hood allows too much reflected light to reach the LCD screen. I could see my reflection in the viewfinder better than the image. I will return the product.

This unit was apparently defective. Rather than a square opening it was a trapezoid shape. The top was narrower than the bottom.Like a previous user who submitted a review re the 3.5 inch Hoodman not fitting his Sony, the Hoodman unit did not fit my Sony NX30.As previously reported, the depth of the unit does not allow for a finger to manipulate the touch screen controls but I was willing to live with that.The material inside the hood should be more of a very smooth black velvet so it will not reflect light. Instead it is made with a shiny fabric.

really wish they would make on that has the same profile as the pro hoodman, with a smaller bottom and angled sided. was able to modify this one, and now it works well.
