Great Musubi Press/Mold for the novice or professional chef for the price.
I originally purchased 5 of these to make Hawaiin Spam Musubi. This little press mold works perfectly as advertised and is non stick. I have given away 3 of the presses to family and friends much to their delight. Since then I have branched out with different combinations such as baloney and scrambled eggs, bacon and eggs with cheese, ham and cucumber slices, shrimp and julienne carrots, and kimchi to name a few. The list of recipes/combinations is only limited by your imagination. Keep in mind that you will need to have a source for small grain sushi rice and Nori (seaweed) for your Musubi to work out right. Also keep in mind to make only make enough to consume within a couple of hours as the Nori will eventually get slimy. It doesn't detract from the taste, only the texture. Also of note, if you have access to good Asian grocery store that carries Ebi Fumi Furikake, Samon Furikake, or Noritamago Furikake do not hesitate to include them in your Musubi combinations. Received all 5 quickly, undamaged, and ready to use right out of the packaging once washed. All the 'How To Use' instructions are in Japanese, but you should easily figure out how to use the press from the colored pictures. I will be ordering more presses in the future from this vendor.

Works OK
This works OK for making rice cakes but is not exactly what I want. For the price it at least makes OK rice cakes. My 2 cents: First off it is just a little smaller than the traditional rice cake press. Secondly, the toppings go on top (not the bottom) and then are compressed. In a traditional mold The toppings go in first, then the rice, then it is compressed. This makes it harder to get nice looking designs on the rice cake. Still using this but continuing to look for a reasonably priced traditional one. On the plus side, this is a snap to clean!

Yes the Empty Can Works by this us Far Better and Easier
I like this that are fast and simple - that produces quality results and this mold does just that. It's the perfect size for a half sheet of sushi nori. I pushed the rice out directly onto a half sheet of nori, added some rice seasoning, placed the pan-fried and then sauced (2T oyster sauce, 2 T soy sauce, and 2 t sugar) SPAM on top, placed another rice layer from the mold on top of that, and then finished the nori wrap. Even using this for the first time the results were great and they had a professionally made appearance. In fact, my very young nephew and niece did all the work - I just cooked the SPAM. I will be getting a second mold so they both can work at the same time.

You need it if u want to make spam musubi
I’ve been told u could actually make spam musubi with the spam can…. this mold just makes the whole process a lot easier and the shape works definitely better than the can.

Worked so great
I was watching a tv show about how in Hawaii Spam Musubi is popular. It’s like spam sushi. So, being curious and not being able to eat most sushi due to allergies I wanted to try this out. So I bought this. Most recipes say you can use the can of spam and plastic wrap but that sounded like too much work and I wanted to use an genuine press for it, plus this press wasn’t very expensive. It was so slick and worked so perfect and I am now in love with spam musubi. It turned out so great and was delicious! It’s also small so when delivered it fit in my mailbox. I’d say try it if you’ve never had it before and use this press!

Fun to use!
Easy to use and easy to clean! Photo shows my first attempt. A little challenge to get the seaweed sealed around the spam and rice but getting the rice in the perfect shape was a breeze. Tip: don’t overfill the mold with too much rice.
