Remote suitable for dementia sufferers
Great little remote control mum has only had for two days but has made her life so much easier . She struggled with the remote that came with her to as had too many buttons . This has 5 buttons all different colours . Green for on/off small round button , orange for bolume with up and down control , blue for channels up and down arrows . It does have numbers and other buttons but they are hidden under a cover . Set up was easier than I thought just put batteries in it and it turned mums to off and then was all good to go . Would recommend if love one suffers with dementia

Very impressed
Excellent piece of use. Bought my 94yr old mother a new TV but remote to complex. This is perfect for the elderly. Easy to set up - enter TV code supplied and works perfectly. Highly recommended

Nice simple to use remote.
Bought for elderly relative who struggled with functions of full remote. This just has on/off, channel and volume controls. Was also able to set up 'favourite' channels. This cuts down the scrolling through unwanted channels.

Good for dementia, being used with Sky Q and Samsung - but can’t change channels easily
This remote is amazing for my grandmother who is an elderly dementia patient. I have just set it up for her to use with sky Q on her Samsung tv. When I press the power button, it goes directly to the sky channel she was watching last time (NOTE- it’s useless for changing channels. The channel up/down button works in the opposite direction, and setting up the favourites doesn’t work until you slide down the flipper and press the ok button). I understand the remote didn’t work for sky for a lot of people, so I’m giving a detailed review here to help others. In order for the remote to go directly to the sky channel, I had to change a few settings on her tv and sky first. 1- configure sky to bypass the Home Screen and go straight to the channel last watched: Unfortunately, Sky always goes to homescreen when turned on, so the only way to avoid the homepage is to never turn it off! I set up sky Q so it stays on all the time, even when it’s not in use. Do this by turning off the standby mode from sky settings: - Press Home on your Sky Q remote and select Settings, then Setup - Select Preferences, followed by Standby mode and then None 2- configure Samsung tv to bypass the Samsung homepage and go straight to the hdmi source where sky is connected: There were lots of methods stated on the Samsung website for doing this, by selecting a default source input from external device manager in Samsung settings. This worked for 1 day for grandma but next day it went back to the Samsung homepage. Eventually I found a way by putting the tv into hospitality mode and choosing a default input source from there. The following steps worked for me: - to go to hospitality mode, slowly press mute, 1, 1, 9, enter - Select “power on” from the menu - Select “power on source” - Select the hdmi connection that sky is on - turn off tv to exit the hospitality mode The tv should go directly to sky when you turn it back on. And if you turned off sky standby mode already, it should go to the sky channel last being watched instead of sky homepage. Once this happens, you can set up the flipper remote using the instructions on the leaflet! Just for ease and to save you time, the Samsung codes for the remote are 3831 and 3901 (either should work). PS- when you’re in hospitality mode to select the default source input, you can also select a maximum volume for the TV (I set the upper limit at 40).

Fantastic product.
Fantastic product. I just put the batteries in and it worked on my LG TV. This is going to be so easy for my elderly mum to use. A genuine high quality product that did exactly what I wanted it to do. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Does not work with sky tv
This does not work with sky tv. You can switch the tv on, but then you need to use the sky remote to find the channels which totally defeats the point.

Good for Freeview tv.
Doesn't work with Sky Q. Sky Q goes straight to home screen & there is no back button on Flipper remote.

Good but limited use
Purchased for an elderly relative. Great item good size and simple to use. The only downside is that it can be a bit tricky to slide down the bottom section to reveal the numbers on the controller, a flip down section would be more beneficial for someone with joint trouble.

We bought this for my wife's mother who is in early stages of dementia and gets easily confused. The Spectrum set top box remote has about 800 buttons on it (ok, probably more like 50), but they're all very small and most aren't needed for daily viewing. This remote was perfect. It has just the volume, channel, and power buttons, and it was programmable to her TV (TCL with Roku built in) and her Spectrum set top box. There was even an option to have the power button only turn off the TV rather than both the TV and the set top box, which is a nice feature, since turning off both can cause the infamous "sync" issue if they move the remote during the power-on/off sequence for multiple devices. The only nit I had was in the programming. I tried all the codes for the TCL/Roku TV and none worked initially. Later I discovered that after putting it in programming mode, I was pressing the 4 code digits too quickly in sequence. I had to wait until each one made the light blink. Once I slowed down and paused for a second between each number press, the code worked properly. I set it up so the volume button works with the TV and the channel button works with the set top box. It's going to be great for her since she has historically had difficulty with her TV remote due to her easy confusion and her degrading eyesight. The designer(s) did a great job with this -- hiding the keypad so it's out of sight for programming only, and keeping only the basic buttons visible. Also, the volume and channel buttons being different colors just adds to the ease of remembering which color goes with which function, especially as eyesight fades. The instructions were also clear and well written, which is uncommon these days. I also saw a video demonstrating how to program it, and it was concise and easy to follow. This is the kind of device I would design if I wanted to create my own custom remote for someone with my mother-in-law's condition. Thank you for creating it. The price is a bit higher than some other "senior" remotes on Amazon, but the others had extraneous buttons and didn't appear to be as easy to program for multiple devices, or used the same color for all the buttons. Or the buttons were smaller and closer together, making it easier to mis-press. I think this is the "best-of-breed" in this arena, and so I decided to pay the premium price as I was confident it would "just work" the way I expected it to... and it did. I would highly recommend spending the few extra dollars to get this remote over less expensive knock offs. You do get what you pay for in this case, and it's worth it.

This is a fantastic remote for Seniors or people that have dementia and watch tv all day!!! I am a caregiver for a gentleman who watches tv all day long and has dementia, he often wants to change the channel on the regular remote but messes up the entire system. With this remote he only has two buttons to use!! Its the best!! He can use it himself, without me always having to do it for him every 10 minutes, or without him messing up the entire system,. This was super easy to set up, Hes with Telus and the TV is a JVC, set up was a breeze, took all of a couple minutes!!! Excellent remote control

A great remote for the visually impaired, controlling both a TV and cable Set-top box at the same time without requiring the pressing of any additional function buttons in between. Appears to be pretty ruggedly built. Got this for my mother-in-law. Big buttons, and just a few of them so they are easy to find and operate. The hidden number pad and programming control keys is a great feature to limit potential user error. Ability to set the channel up/down control to simply scroll only through selected/programmed favourite channels is a very handy feature. Programming the remote control overall was easy. I programmed the TV controls on the remote to my Sony TV with code 3611 from the instructions (also in the provided code-list) and as I have a Rogers CISCO cable box, I found that the CISCO and Rogers code lists had 1294 in common and that code worked correctly first try. Within two minutes I had it fully programmed and the favourites set. Now, I hope it will be just as easy to reprogram for a Samsung TV and Cogeco Pace box at my mother-in-law's place. Highly recommended, and it will give her confidence to control her TV watching going forward.
