Pentel EnerGel-X Retractable Liquid Gel Pen, (0.7 mm), Medium Line, Black Ink, Box of 12 (BL107-A)

In the past 10+ years I have tried every gel pen I could get my hands on and these pens are the best I have tried so far. Here's why. What I like: - They write smoothly on most paper I've used them on. These pens do not feel scratchy or skip like other gel pens I've used. - The ink lasts a long time and never seems to dry up. - Smearing is always a problem with gel pens, but I rarely get smearing with these. I'm not saying it can't or won't happen though. - I like to use black pens and the color on these is a dark black, not a grayish color like other pens. - The case of the pens, even though made of plastic, are of good quality. The fit of the rubber part is grippy and comfortable. - The price of these were about $1 a pen and previously I found them on sale for $1.33 (half off at $4.00 for 3) at one of the local office supply stores, so the price was right. What I didn't like: - First time I received these pens they came in a box, like in the picture, and all appeared to be in NEW condition. The second order I received came wrapped up in a rubber band and some of the protective plastic tips were off of half of them, making me wonder if these pens were used or not. I didn't contact the seller to send them back as I didn't want the hassle of sending them back. I have literally tried every gel pen I could get my hands on and I like these the best so far. I would recommend just getting a couple to try out first before going for the multipak.

I fell in love with Pentel EnerGel pens when I first tried them... in my opinion they are the best gel pens out there. The variety I used to buy were pretty expensive; sold in two packs and a little more stylish than these are. BUT then I found out that these are the same exact ink with same amount of smoothness, just in a different looking pen case. I actually think I prefer the simplicity of these compared to the ones I used to buy. Much cheaper than the others, especially when bought in a 12 pack like these. I had enough to share with my coworkers and they all loved them! These are definitely my go-to pens when it comes to charting (nurses notes)!!

My husband and I fight over these because of how well they write. The flow is really nice and lasts a long while.

Love these pens. They're easy to write with and don't hurt my fingers. :-)

This is the only pen I use since I am a lefty. I think this package was a bad batch. All of the pens other than 1 dried up the same day of 1st use.

These are hands down the best pens I’ve ever used. I’m a dietitian who writes chart notes all day, every day, and these pens have never let me down. They’re smooth, flowy, and perfectly inky without smudging or running. I’ll never use anything else!

This is an extremely smooth pen. There is no skipping with the ink so it just produces a perfect black trail. The pen is so smooth that it pretty much just glides across the paper! The dark pigment of the ink is great as well, as one of the other gel pens I tried made it seem more like a very dark grey rather than pitch black. I first bought the 0.5mm, and while it was still very smooth, I prefer my lines to be a bit thicker as the 0.5mm is quite fine. I then debated between the 0.7mm and the 1.0mm and decided to try my luck with the 0.7mm, fearing that the 1.0mm would be too thick. I'm glad to have bought the 0.7mm as it is the perfect thickness. It writes like a dream! My favourite pen previously was this pen I had gotten from a sales rep. A black gel ink pen just like this one that writes incredibly smoothly. However, seeing as it was a Medical Supplies company that it came from, they unfortunately don't sell them, so I end up hoarding any pens from this company that I could get my hands on. So I'm EXTREMELY happy to have found a pen that writes just like it on Amazon where I have prime. Sure the price is a bit more than I usually pay for pens, but it's well worth it. Especially considering I've tried other gel pens that don't write as well but are much more expensive than this brand. I wish I could have gotten the other colours as well (the orange, purple, pink, and sky blue look amazing!) but I rarely ever write in colour for anything so it would have just been a waste of money. However, in regards to the black versions, I'll be sticking to these pens for as long as they sell them!
