Change u pour hot liquids into these jars for making iced tea?

Yes you can make ice tea directly in these jars. Usually put a custom teabag into the jar and then I put my boiling water and let my tea steep. I let it come to room temperature that I sealed them and placed them in my refrigerator. My wife loves different varieties of tea during the week. I also use the half gallon jug for ice tea as well but during the summer I make lemonade. Wonderful jars and jugs that make my life easy and gives me the opportunity to have variety.

Does the pour spout with red tip keep the air out? I would like to use the spout, but not have to switch the cap for each use.

No, it definitely does not keep the air out. There is a small additional hole in it to all the necessary airflow for the spout to pour properly. It doesn't matter that the hole is small... air molecules are even smaller. Therefore, it unequivocally does not keep the air out.
