Powerslave [180g LP] [2015 Remaster]

In the top three best Iron Maiden albums ever made. A fantastic album for anyone's collction. I highly recommend it.

What can I say, I already own 10 different versions of this album. Cool vinyl

This version is amazing. I liked the artwork inside and out. The album itself musically is way better than cd.

To me this was their finest hour. I bought this album for my son who wanted to hear it.

Replacing my old original Vinyl from 84. Yes, 84. I was there. Still sounds as good as it did then. Classic Maiden.

Spectacular Picture Disc Vinyl!

Maiden never fails to impress with the maddeningly awesome riffs, the double guitar harmonies, and the brilliant solos. However, I never really liked their choice in singers. Dickinson is probably the best, but he sounds like he's straining a lot of the time. A lot of the power metal bands that came later and tried to emulate him sing a lot smoother than he does. But that's Maiden's only flaw on this album, and Dickinson is still good, just not my favorite metal singer. Though I liked his latest solo album. Harris is a composition god, and he proves that yet again on this album. "Aces High" is an awe-inspiring opener. "Two Minutes To Midnight" is good, but for some reason Dickinson irritates me more on this track than on the rest of the album. "Losfer Words" is a great instrumental, right up there with "Genghis Khan". "Flash of the Blade" has a great riff, and the bass line makes it sound so dark. It could almost be a power metal anthem. I'm not as impressed with "The Duellists" as some others might be...if Maiden had a filler on this album, this would be it. It's not really a filler, though, but it lacks some of the energy than the other songs on Powerslave. "Back In The Village" and "Powerslave" are good as well. The Middle-Eastern feeling you can tell they are trying to create in "Powerslave" falls a little flat, but it's still a powerful song. But what makes this album the best Maiden has offered is the song, "Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner". This puts you right in the middle of Coleridge's epic poem, and songs like this are what inspired Helloween and the power metal bands after them. This is a song no metal listener should miss.

The five stars is for the music, which I totally enjoyed back when it was first released. However, the LP I received does not have a gatefold jacket like the description says; it is a normal jacket. So if you are like me and wanted to buy it for the gatefold jacket, it doesn't have one. If you are into metal music and have a turntable, you should buy one of the versions of the LP (if you don't have it already). This is 180gm if you want that, but just know I haven't listened to this pressing because I am returning it due to the non-gatefold issue.
