more than adequate

This remote is a lot smaller than I expected but works great. I own a Samsung TV so I love that it’s already preprogrammed for it, made it easy to use. Just pop in the batteries and ready to go.

I was so tired of struggling with the remotes that came with my Smart Samsung televisions. The buttons were small and hard to see and push. The old remotes did not respond very quickly. A friend of mine recommended the Philips, universal remote. I chose one that has the backlit option and I love how large the buttons are and easy to see and push. I open the package, put 2-AA batteries and pointed it to my television, and it worked instantly! There was literally no set up required.So glad I purchased one for each of TV’s.

I bought this because my soundbar remote died and I could not find an exact replacement. I gave it threes stars because It paired easily with TV and other devices just not the ONE I needed... Smaller than I thought so buttons were smaller than I thought but I still didn't have issue. My only issue was it didn't work with the soundbar I needed it for...

I went through about 3 remotes before finding one that works with Direct TV. While this is a little big, it has every function for a universal remote. And it has every function for directv, such as bringing up your recorded playlist, the colored buttons so that you can delete things from your playlist, menu, guide, and 8 buttons for programming other devices. The best thing is that if you have a sound bar or separate speakers, you can program the volume button so you don't have to press the AUD button every time you want to change the volume.

This remote was completely dead after 3 weeks. Philips has officially lost my business on this one.Background:I have an older philips flat screen, c. 2011. It was purchased as an open box without a remote so I bought a Philips brand remote for compatibility. That one worked right out of the box without even having to set it up for my philips tv. Programmed perfectly to my Samsung Blu-ray and worked for 7osh years. Kids and time have been hard on that remote over the last few. The mute button no longer worked and the range was getting poor so I purchased this philips remote.Initial review:Right out of the box, this thing is light and cheap feeling. Much wider and thinner than the old one. The tv section is at the bottom, whereas I’m used to those functions at the top. Annoying, but I can relearn. TV feature doesn’t work out of the box, but I prOgrammed the tv and Blu-ray with little difficulty. Disappointing that it no longer comes loaded with philips as the tv, but nothing crushing.Deal breaker:One week in, I notice that it isn’t always picking up. I can get the volume to work but the channel buttons take a little more effort (point the remote higher, no... lower, no... left. Yep, that’s it). Two weeks in: I am now getting up and walking towards the tv to change channels. Three weeks in: nothing.So I replace the batteries and try reprogramming to no avail. The light on the remote works correctly and the programming sequence appears to work, but the remote is not connecting with philips tv or Samsung Blu-ray.Of course I threw the box away after a few days and the 30 day return window is passed by the time I eat around to it—my fault. But seriously? Three weeks before failure?!Old remote still works well enough until I can buy a Samsung universal.

I love this remote! It was easy to program, the light-up keypad is great for late night watching, and the volume control is a great feature. I like that I can change the volume no matter what device I'm currently using. Having a dedicated sleep button is also a must for me so that was a key selling point. If you are looking for one remote to control all your devices that is easy to set up and has special functions that make for a better user experience this is the one for you. Would recommend
