Barely heats!!!
This review is for the use in my 18'x9'x48" 3,500 gallon pool. The fact they say this would work for a 5,000g pool is a joke. The water that comes out of this is barely any warmer than the water that goes into it. I actually checked the temperature and water that goes in at 78 degrees only comes out at 80 degrees. It freezes up and turns into a block of ice if you use it at any less than 70 degrees, so you can't even start it up early in the morning so that it has more run time. It usually doesn't hit 70 here until about 10am. We usually try and do our swimming at about 3pm so that only gives it about 5 hours of runtime. It raises the temp by 1 degree every 1.5 hours so it really only goes up by about 3 degrees in the time we're able to use it. The thermometer is not accurate at all so I just use a regular glass aquarium thermometer to check the temperature. Wifi would not connect in the app. It would find the heat pump but would always error out in the middle of the adding process. Also want to note that I am using a solar blanket.I have some experience with these heat pump pool heaters because I've used another model for the last 2 years. I previously had a 2000g above ground pool before upgrading this year that i was using with a 12,000 btu heater(another brand) I also got on amazon. With my previous one, I would get about 2 degrees an hour and it wouldn't freeze up at 60 degrees so I would be able to start it earlier in the morning. Would get my temperature up to a very nice and warm 86 degrees by 3:00 or earlier. When I would put my hand in front of the stream, I would feel that it is warm. Definitely more than this 16k btu model. Thermometer on my old model worked perfectly and always matched what was on my aquarium thermometer. So then the idea came up to try and use both of them. My new one along with the old one. Water was warmer of course but this also gave me the opportunity to test which one provided more heat. I was able to simply unplug one or the other. Surprisingly, the 12k BTU model provided warmer water than this 16k model. When I had the 16k model turned on then turned on the 12k model as well it got much warmer. When I had just the 12k model running and i turned on the 16k after, it was barely any warmer.Definitely wouldn't recommend this pool heater. It barely works and is definitely not worth the price tag. Going to be returning it. Maybe buying another one of the 12k model that I already have to use with my old one.

Works great, don't expect miracles. Pay attention to their math / temperature charts
I got the small (16,000 BTU, 120V).It's rare to find a heater that runs off 120V. I personally don't have a spare 240V slot. I also tried the solar panels - but each panel only produces about 1,000 BTUs. In other words, it takes 16 solar panels to equal this small Varpoolfaye heater, so they are just way too expensive and I don't have that much space in my yard.So I was happy to try this Varpoolfaye. For reference, as a general rule, this 16,000 BTU heater will heat a 4,000 gallon pool about 1/2 degree per hour (14 foot round pool). And it will heat a 2,000 gallon pool about 1 degree per hour (10 foot round pool). What I'm providing are ballpark figures - there are a lot of other factors, especially starting temperature. Pay attention to the temperature charts they provide. So don't expect miracles or have unrealistic expectations - this is for smaller pools, and the heat gain is slow. The smaller the pool, the more you will notice it.In terms of assembly, it really couldn't be easier - just connect your hoses (in and out). It is set up for 1.5 inch hoses or PVC. It does also have a line for condensation - if using indoors you'll need to plan ahead on where this will drip.I especially like the app, which lets you set a timer, and also lets you know the operating temperature.I have seen reports of defective parts or premature failure, but to me, so far at least, I haven't seen any problems and the build quality seems just fine. I will continue to keep an eye on it.

Pool heater
Set up was quick and easy. You do need 1 additional hose as you’ll use your current outlet hose as the inlet to this so need to add another outlet hose to pool. Luckily I had an extra one but definitely something to be aware of. The pump is pretty quiet and just heat the fan running a bit but not bad at all. No louder than my sand pump. It does have a flow switch built in that will turn it on and off automatically when your pools filter pump turns on and off. Also has a WiFi app that you can use to turn it on and off and see the water temp of the pool and adjust it up or down which is nice feature. Can definitely feel the water warmer that’s coming out but does take awhile to warm. About 1deg an hour or so but I also use a solar cover to help retain to heat.

Pool Ownership Means One More Thing—This Time, It’s a Heater
If you own a pool, you already know the deal: there’s always one. more. thing. you’ll need. This heater is no exception—you’ll probably need to grab a couple of extra fittings to get it all hooked up. But hey, that’s pool life. That said, this heater is actually pretty great once you get past the “trip to the hardware store” phase. The big win here is that it runs on 110v, which makes setup a lot easier as long as you aren’t already pushing your circuit to the limit. Otherwise, prepare to become intimately familiar with your breaker panel. The instructions were clear enough for a smooth install, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked even running at half capacity. The display makes it easy to fine-tune the temp, which is nice if you prefer not to simmer your guests like a hot tub surprise. There is an app for it, but I’ve decided to draw the line at one more smart device on my phone—I didn’t download it and haven’t missed it.Bottom line: functional, effective, and a solid upgrade to extend pool season—just plan for a couple of extras on install day.
