EDITED (more than 6 months later): As I changed my guy's grips today, I recalled the first time he got them and this review that I wrote. This product has literally given him his freedom. I know when it's time to change them because he starts to slip. As soon as he gets new "wheels" he is off and going. I will be forever grateful for these. My 14.5 year old Chihuahua went from acting like a puppy to having difficulty walking after a series of poor decisions on his part (i.e. he can't just out of nowhere fly) and an accident that unfortunately was my fault.... all within six weeks. His vet reminded me he was an old man and time and patience would tell how he would recover. We are making great progress! But the LVP through my ENTIRE condo is a challenge. I live alone, I'll deal with the whelping pads that you see in the video. But I wanted to give him more stability and freedom. After reading MANY reviews, both the good and the bad, I decided to give the toe grips a try. Could he walk on that little strip of LVP before I put them on? No. Did he get up and start walking confidently on the hard floors as soon as I put them on? Also no. But I think with some practice and encouragement, these will offer him the freedom he deserves. They are pricey. The monetary value is probably not there. The "I'll not eat before my dog struggles" value is. I'll continue to buy them because that's what they cost, not because I don't think product is grossly overpriced. (shaking my head even as I write that). If you are able, I would say these are worth a shot. ** Putting them on was not easy, but also not hard. My guy didn't seem to mind, but we did have to take some breaks. It won't be my favorite time spent with him when we have to do this. ** We have lost one, but it was also the last one that I put on because I was having a harder time. You get 4 extra per package. ** I've checked and double checked that they aren't rubbing on his pads. They are not. He seems totally unbothered by them.

I ordered these for my older 5lb yorkie who has trouble getting up and down wood steps because he is small and doesn’t have good traction. When they arrived I excitedly ripped open the bag and the first thing to note is you need to have alcohol on hand to soak the little pads in which I didn’t have. I searched my house and came up with witch hazel but be sure to have alcohol on hand when ordering. The second thing I noted is that the holes in the toe grips are SMALL. It was difficult getting them on my dog and I was worried he was uncomfortable or in pain because he was squirming so much. I eventually got them on, however, and he’s been moving around much more confidently, so overall a big win. Just deducted the 1 star because they were so hard to get on.

My groomer recommended these to me. They’ve really helped her have traction on our wood floors and it cuts down on the tap tap of her little feet too. I feel like the negative reviews are due to poor installation or sizing. The first time I bought the red ones they were slightly too loose I think cause they fell off after about a month. I bought the size down (yellow) and my groomer said they were a much better fit they stayed on. My groomer puts these on the pups which ensures perfectly positioned grips. My only complaint is they won’t wholesale them to the groomer only vetrinary hospitals so if I forget to order when I’m running low before her grooming appointment then I have to make a second trip down. They do wear out or fall off here and there but for the most part if fit and instal are good they last longer than I expected them to.

The issue with this product is getting the toe grips to stay on. I followed the instructions, soaked in alcohol, putting them on accordingly and even used a dab of super glue. My dog loses them all within less than a day. I have purchased these twice off of amazon and once directly from the website. So I have invested $120 in toe grips to no avail. Because of the price and SO FEW come in a pack, I do not recommend. For $40 and the fact they don’t stay on, there should be at least 40 toe grips in a pack to at least make it worth it.
