 The 18 is a knife that JEO-TEC has designed specifically for bushcraft activities, we all know the qualities of the 12c27 steel, this model in particular as well as the model in micarta, are built with Saber Hollow grind, IS NOT SCANDY GRIND, if you want this knife with "scandy grind" take the cocobolo model, this piece is very functional, light and very strong, the brown leather sheath is excellently constructed to be carried vertically only, and has a ring to attach a dangler, it holds the knife very tightly. Straight spine sharp enough to make sparks with the ferrorod. The mirror polished granadillo wood gives a very special and handsome touch with its red liners, the ergonomic shape of its handle avoids the fatigue of the hand when working with wood, this knife can stand it whatever. Highly recommended to carry in the equipment always. Good quality firesteel with regular scraper.

I ordered one of the #18 knives with the exotic wood handle and was disappointed with the quality. The first knife was returned for a replacement and a second was ordered and then returned for a refund.The bad:The first knife had issues where the full tang actually stuck out almost 1/16 all of the way around the handle. I am unsure if the handle scales shrunk during storage or if the knife was assembled poorly to begin with. I tried to ignore it; but the edge was sharp enough that it would shave fingernail pieces and you could feel it when gripped in your hand.The first knife also has blade grind issues, the upper part of the blade on the left side was not a complete Scandi grind, you could see where the person grinding had made a mistake and changed the angle in one spot.The second knife came in and had similar problems. The tang again stuck out all the way around the handle and on this one you could see where there was glue or something that had given away. The glue had left streaks from the edge of the metal towards the knife scales. This makes me think that the handle wood was not sufficiently dried or stabilized when the knives were made and that an extremely large amount of shrinkage happened during storage.The Scandi grind on the second knife did not have a grinding issue like the first one, instead the second knife had perfect grinds with the exception that the left hand side was ground way past center and the edge was completely unbalanced and not on the centerline of the blade.The good:I was quite thrilled with the sheath on both knives. It was not the super high quality leather of a custom knife; but it was also not the cheap leather that starts delaminating as soon as you get it. The thickness and quality were more than acceptable and the stitching on both sheathes I examined was perfect.The finish on both knives handles and blades was very smooth and polished. The spine had a good 90degree angle that looked like it would have worked fine with the included ferro rod. (I did not try either knife with a ferro rod since I knew within minutes of opening the package that I was returning them.)The handle was a nice shape, and a nice size and the blade thickness left me with no doubt that it should baton pretty well.If the manufacturer can fix the grind issues and fix the handle problems this seems like it would be a great knife for the price.

He carries this hunting and fishing. He loves it. It comes with a great case. Knife is very well made.

This is a great bushcraft knife for the money. Let me say this. I personally know people that make “custom knives” with 01 tool steel and micarta scales. They charge 150-200. This knife has sandvic 12c27 sandvic stainless which is more rust resistant and also holds an edge better. The scales are hardwood (cocobolo I believe) and it has a red liner. The fit in finish is 8/10 and only because you can feel the edge changes from scales, liner and tang. That’s probably due to the fact that this is mass produced and not glued, clamped and then filed, sanded and polished like a 200 plus dollar bushcraft knife. That is the only difference with this knife. Happy with this and will be a work horse in my opinion.
