A great printer, needs more development
The only reason I give it 4 and not 5 is because I don't think it has realized it's full potential as a scanner/printer combo. There is a lot here to praise. The built in GUI, the enclosed build area, and the fast and clean prints are all very nice. The removable extruder cartridge is brilliant. Does it have issues and bugs? Yes, but it seems to reset and is up and running again in a minute or two. The scanner is not as good as advertised, but it has promise. There are design flaws here and there, but are overshadowed by great design solutions other printers lack. This printer just gets better and better. It has not stopped running since I turned it on.October 2 update: The machine is still running non-stop and the prints are consistently good. I had exactly one failed print that slipped from the plate. I have given up trying to print spheres for now. UHU glue is the ONLY way to go. Any other failed prints have been from human error, mostly from poor layouts. The scanner gets occasional use. It's just not producing "copies" of items, but "blobs" that somewhat resemble the original. I have figured out how to clean up the scans in CAD, but it's time consuming.November 20 update: Scanning is working MUCH better now. It's actually useful. Printer is still going strong. My most reliable printer ever. When I compare it to the industrial printers at work, it stands up pretty well. Where it lacks in precision to the $100k and up units, it excels in speed and versatility. It's also insanely cheap to operate. Lastly, customer service is very good. Given the heartache I've had with other printers in this class, I'm changing my rating to 5 stars based on it's durability and overall usefulness to me.

Comprehensive review - 7 months of use from an expert
I have no idea where all these positive reviews are coming from. I was a kickstarter backer, and was really excited to finally get the printer. I've now had it for over six months, and there are several fundamental flaws, and some major issues with the manufacturer you should know about before purchasing this device.First is the good:1) The form factor is fantastic. While it takes up a lot of desk space, the concept is good, and their industrial design is one of the best I've seen in the 3d printer space.2)There are frequent updates to the software, and it has improved materially since it first arrived.3) It has plenty of built in ways to connect to the printer, including wireless, wired, or traditionally USB.4) Really like the stand-alone nature. Can keep models in memory (both in STL, as well as gcode form so you don't have to re-slice models you want to reprint), you can upload via a built in web browser, you can use a USB stick.5) The extruder as a "cartridge" is a really good idea, and makes it simple to upgrade (or fix in my case)Unfortunately, the bad is enough for me to not recommend this printer, even for the most technically minded, and adventurous out there1) The filament path to the fundamentally flawed. The extruder is very high in the device, so there is not much clearance from the top of the machine to where the filament enters the extruder. This creates an unnatural bend in the filament, which combined with the natural tension of a filament roll unrolling latitudinally makes the filament break mid-print in about 80% of the time. a 20% success rate on printing is very, very frustrating. I've tried to compensate for this by creating an almost friction free path (keep the lid open, create a filament holder that sits above the printer), but this negates all of the form factor advantages the product has, and has created a mockery of my desktop.2) My build plate is not level. You would think that an "auto-leveling" printer would compensate for this, but that's just not the case. The auto-level only seems to effect the raft it creates, not the model itself. If you want to build onto the buildplate, you are out of luck. Worse, there doesn't appear to be any way to manually level the build plate! Since my build plate has only increased in it's tilt since my purchase, the product itself has been reduced to scanning only.3) The manufacturer communication is severely lacking. They have forum's on their website, and I would recommend any potential purchaser visit those forums before making a decision. All of my problems have been discussed on the forums, without a peep from the manufacturer. Other owners have had other problems, with no attempt to resolve any issues at all. From a PR perspective, they should take down their own forums because it only looks like they don't care about their product.4) No spare parts at all. I thought about maybe trying to buy a new platform - you can't. At one point earlier in the year, the filament gear just popped off in the middle of a print. I found the gear, but not the tiny little M3 headless not that is supposed to keep it one. I had to buy one someplace else.

Major issues with this unit.
This unit arrived with the operating system not functioning, which required the company to have to send me a thumb drive to load it. The spool holder was too short for the width of the spool feeding the filament. The print was less than desirable with chunks of plastic here and there. And the scanner is slow and inaccurate due to the rendering. Many of my attempts were horribly disfigured. To get a good scan you must use a powder to cover the object, which is messy and does not guarantee the rendering will put the object together properly. Finally, the homing switch for the table failed.Just a few other interesting observations. The print will continue despite the front door being open. The filament loops around inside and appears that it could get caught on protruding hardware. The unit appears to be a good idea but not commercially ready.Customer Service was good at getting back but didn't seem to really have the urgency that I think is important in a company these days. The option was given to either send back or do the repairs here.
