I used it to make a delicous slow cooker chili.
Review of the original SIX GUN CHILI MIXIN’S (4 OZ) As a single guy, I like to make enough chili in a slow cooker that will last me 4-5 days. My favorite was the STUBBS CHILI FIXIN COOKIN SAUCE, but for some reason, it’s been discontinued. I’ve tried several other brands of chili mix, but I’ve been very disappointed. I read an article that recommended SIX GUN CHILI MIXIN’S, but it was not sold in my local grocery stores. I ended up buying it from AMAZON. I almost didn’t because of the high cost ($14.95 for a pack of 2). Since I hadn’t had any luck finding a good pre-packaged chili mix, I decided to roll-the-dice and buy it. There is no instructions on how to prepare the SIX GUN CHILI MIXIN’S in a slow cooker, so I decided to experiment and this worked for me: 2 pounds of ground beef / turkey (brown and drain grease) 1 green pepper (diced) 1 onion (diced) 1 can (14.5 oz.) diced tomatoes (do not drain) 1 can (14.5 oz) tomato sauce or 1 cup beef broth or another can of diced tomatoes Add everything to a slow cooker including the SIX GUN CHILI MIXIN’S (except the pouch of masa flour) and cook for 8 hours on low. After six hours, stir in the masa flour. After eight hours, serve over rice. The SIX GUN CHILI MIXIN’S is very good and the chili taste better the next day after all the seasoning gets infused and improves the flavor of the chili meat. It does have some "heat" so add less of the chili mix if you don't like it hot and spicy. Although it is expensive, I haven’t yet found a do-it-yourself chili mix that I like. Rather than try and experiment making a DIY chili mix recipe until I find one that I like, the SIX GUN CHILI MIXIN’S is probably cheaper in the long run since it is a guaranteed tasty mix. I’d buy it again.

the best ground beef chili!
since discovering this mix many moons ago, i don't bother with any other chili mix or even trying to make my own. i'm a pretty good home cook who cooks six nights a week, and most of what i make is from scratch. i have made 'real' chili too - with fresh roasted peppers and chunks of beef. but when i want ground beef chili, i always come to amazon for this mix. i used to be able to get it at the grocery store, but they stopped carrying it, sadly. thankfully the price on amazon isn't much different and with prime i can have it delivered fast and free. here's what i do in addition to the mix to make my chili: 1. when you brown the beef, add a diced onion as well as a couple cloves of minced garlic and a minced jalapeno. 2. for the tomatoes, i buy the fire roasted ones with garlic 3. when i add the tomatoes i also add in two small cans of hatch chiles - one mild and one hot 4. i use the whole spice packet as well as the masa - the masa i add in stages and use a bit more water, just adding a bit in and letting it cook, then a bit more, until it gets to the consistency i like. a can of black or kidney beans tastes good and stretches the amount of chili further, but my partner doesn't care for them, which is when i switched to adding in the chiles and onion and other extras, as i personally don't care for just a big bowl of ground beef. and i have to say, i like it with this stuff better than with the beans too. we serve it with cheese and sour cream and cornbread, but avocado is nice too if you have any and of course it's good plain over fritos for frito pie. it makes a ton and you can freeze it. the frozen batch is never quite as good as the fresh (but isn't that almost always the case?) but it's still damn good. also, despite using the full spice packet and a jalapeno and some chiles, i would not consider this "spicy." i wouldn't call it mild either, but if you really want hot, use two cans of the HOT hatch chiles in step three. (i get these at whole foods, btw.) if you have different heat tolerances in your household, of course you can just make it totally mild and serve with hot sauce on the side for those who want it. (we love yellowbird brand.) i also highly recommend the website "the homesick texan" if you're looking for a 'real' chili recipe, or a cornbread one for that matter. her blueberry cornbread with lime zest is out of this world. i also have her cookbook sold here on amazon which is excellent as well. lots of classic texmex.

Best Chili Ever...Honest!
I've used this chili mix for years, but just now found it on Amazon. You can't believe how tasty and delicious this chili is! I'm very serious. All the major supermarkets used to carry it here, but then only small stores had it. I would drive across town to get this mix. Note: the smaller reddish brown pouch is the hot red pepper. Don't dump the whole thing in without tasting first. I even give this chili mix to friends as presents...it's that good! Truly, you won't be sorry if you buy it, plus it's all natural ingredients. Yum!

Six gun chili mix
Great purchase and glad I found these. Used this brand years ago but local stores stopped carrying. My go to GOAT for easy chili and homemade meat/poultry rub.

Great chili mix. Not a great value anymore
I have found an alternative at less than half the price per serving and taste almost as good. I'm a chili head and eat it weekly. Six Gun is getting too expensive. It's a shame because I love the product.

Best Chili!
Makes delicious chili everyone loves. You control the heat. I add some fresh onion and bell pepper to the hamburger. Throw in some pinto, black and kidney beans along with some fresh corn. It's the best!

Ordered 2 12x4oz packs...only received 2x4oz packs....either it's false advertising or error. Either way, no response from seller. Although a fantastic chili mix, not worth $56 for 2 packs.
