Austin “Walkin’ Cane” (from Cleveland)
Austin “Walkin’ Cane” has yet to make it nationally, but this well done modern blues album/cd should have most blues fans wondering why he didn’t achieve more popularity.MUrder Of A Blues Singer is well produced by Austin Walkin Cane Charanghat and bass player Jim Wall. There’s a full compliment of musicians as well as Cleveland harmonica player and singer Colin Dussault. Most of the songs on Murder of a Blues Singer were written by Austin Walkin’ Cane Charanghat who also demonstrates a deep, strong singing voice. He is also plays guitars: electric, acoustic and slide.Michael Bay who plays in Colin Dussault’s band is also on board for electric guitar.By the time Dussault is adding harmonica on the wondrously bluesy Robert Johnson tune Ramblin on my Mind the fit is perfect. Dussault plays on every song from 4 thru song 12.Great acoustic guitar by Cane on Graveyard Town. Again, his singing is strong on Graveyard song.4.3 stars for a rising star... who may never quite reach stardom (it seems).Austin Cane even sings : “never gonna be a Late Great Singer...”He is still very good.Murder of A Blues Singer released 2007

This is a very solid blues album. I love the songs and the stories they tell. Austin's voice has that gritty down-home rasp from down in his gut. The band is all-star quality. Very simply put , this is a great listen all the way through.
