Why didn't I do this years ago?
I installed this to keep my dogs out of the front of the house. Works like a charm! All of the settings are extremely loud and annoying, it would not be good for a shop entrance. The alarms sound continuously for 30 seconds. I like that you can use with batteries or plug it in.My very obnoxious and yippy dogs won't even go running to the front door when the doorbell rings. Genius! I wish I had done this years ago.Now I am going to put it on another hallway I want them to stay out of.

Does What It is Supposed To
I was not sure whether to buy this but I am glad I did. The sensors work great and never miss an intruder into my cubicle space. If anything, they are too sensitive (sometimes). The only complaint is that the sound it makes is too loud. I actually built a muffler out of a soda bottle and some tissues. I put the speaker inside the bottle so that when it makes a noise, it is muffled enough so that only I can hear. If you are going to use this for an office setting and don't want to go through the trouble I did, you may want to look elsewhere. However, I looked all over the internet and this was really the only thing I could find that fit the application and setting I wanted to use it for.

It fails shortly after purchase
This worked great for maybe 3 months. Since then after being connected maybe 15 minutes it starts screaming = the alarm goes off and I have to turn it off. It is a piece cheap junk. I'd rather pay 2ce the price and get something made well in America.

This device works perfectly for what we needed
This device works perfectly for what we needed. We have a room we wanted to train our dogs not to enter. When they interrupt the light beam, it sounds an alarm for 30 seconds. I also told them "NO!" when it alarmed. They got the message quickly, problem solved in only a few hours. This would also be perfect for toddlers at home, if you want to know when they venture off (but the opening is too large for a child-gate.) I posted a video of it for your amusement. Worked as described until it didnt
Worked great as a temporary alarm for me while doing construction on the place. It was easy to install. However, about a month later it started going off when sunlight hit it and not going off when I would walk through

Power to the unit, battery doest last.
I used this to warn people that my garden is protected and secured. They need to be water proofed for outdoor use when it rains. Also maybe a little longer for the alarm to sound, which is surprising loud. Worked ok. I ordered 2 sets and 1 set stopped working because of the rain. Kind of a pain having to plug in to ensure optimal use. Overall for the price not to bad, fairly easy to set up n opperate. ( Aside from the extension cords to gain power).

these work great!
I bought these items to use as a walkway alarm. Although they are not made for outdoor use I found that if I built a small protective enclosure for each of the units (in my case a pair of birdhouses facing each other about 15 feet apart) they are protected from t h e weather and work fine. In my case I hardwired an outlet for each the transmitter and receiver and an on/off switch inside the house. Voila, an inexpensive walkway alert system.

Great little devices for cat deterrent use.
I really like these devices. They have a lot of potential for pet control (in my case, cats). For example I have a pair set up across the kitchen door and am now allowed to prepare food without cat interference. Most pet deterrent devices on the market are unreliable. Those built along the lines of these are all motion activated which I suppose makes them less precise and they do not always register motion. I find these to be a much more reliable alternative. I like the settings available as far as volume, chimes, alarms, on/off, etc. And they are attractive little units. I dropped a star on the review for two reasons. When first setting them up they need to settle or warm up or something, on one occasion, I was retrieving the shipping boxes in prep for returning them thinking they were faulty units when they just started working and have been fine since. Bear in mind, I'm impatient, so I'm not talking days or even hours. Just a blurb in the instructions would settle this matter. The other issue is slightly odd and slightly irritating. They are occasionally triggered by my TV remote and sound off when I turn the TV on or off. Not every time, but often enough. That's about it ... nice little devices and I will consider more if I find I need them and if the cats continue to respect them.1/25/16/ - Update: the mixed reviews on these are now more understandable. I'm still having the TV remote issue which I now find includes changing the TV volume. Not a huge problem... however, one of the receivers just "went bad" or so I thought. It just started sounding off and wouldn't stop. Turned off and back on, it sounded off, then stopped. Finally a small adjustment in alignment has (hopefully) solved the problem. Again, a little more instruction in this would be nice. I have since learned that "break-beam" from device to device is difficult, so it's a miracle this works at all. I'm not entirely sure what would set of the alignment, but I suppose it could be just about anything.
