Psycho-Biddy! Warning: Prepare to reach your Shock-Limit! The original scream queen delivers in two classic campy thrillers from the '60s, STRAIT-JACKET and BERSERK. STRAIT-JACKET Movie queen Joan Crawford (What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?) gives a terrific performance in this chiller from pioneer horror movie producer William Castle. Lucy Harbin (Crawford) goes berserk when she finds her husband in bed with another woman. Lucy axes the couple to death and spends twenty years in a mental institution for murder. After she is released, she moves in with family and hopes her nightmare is over... but a string of ax murders suddenly start occurring in the neighborhood and police think Lucy has reverted to her old ways. BERSERK Joan Crawford (Mildred Pierce) stars as Monica Rivers, the owner of a traveling circus plagued by a series of mysterious deaths. When a high-wire performer becomes the first victim, he is replaced by an even more daring aerialist who begins a romance with Monica. Their relationship draws envy from her business manager who is the brutal killer's next victim. As the police begin to investigate, bigger audiences flock to the show. The mystery swirls as a cast of suspects and motives rage with jealousy and revenge.

A fun Joan Crawford blu-ray double feature from Mill Creek Entertainment
Mill Creek Entertainment pairs up two Joan Crawford films in the form of 1964's "Strait-Jacket" and 1967's "Beserk" for a fun budget priced double feature blu-ray release. The former is actually a very good film while the latter is often derided as one of the low points of her film career though I think it still has its moments. For fans of this legendary actress, this disc is well worth picking up.Both films share a dual layer blu-ray and look quite good. Featuring a very solid bit rate for each film averaging around 30 mbps and using the AVC codec, detail is great with the sources used for each film being in nice shape. Contrast and black levels are spot on. Digital sharpening and noise reduction do not appear to have been utilized. Both films appear in their original 1.85:1 theatrical aspect ratios with "Strait-Jacket" being in black & white while "Beserk" is in color which is how they were originally made.Sound for each film is presented in 2 channel LPCM format sounding clear with nice separation. English subtitles are included for both films. No extras are included. For a budget priced release going for only $8.99 currently, I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent job that Mill Creek Entertainment did with this disc. It comes highly recommended especially for fans of Joan Crawford.

CLASSIC CRAWFORD CAMP DOUBLE FEATURE
2 excellent 60's era hag horror camp classics. Although about 50% of Joan's acting in "Straight Jacket" is waaaaaaay over the top-the other 50% is excellent. Berserk is just a fun Hammer style thriller with Joan showing off her still-impressive legs at 60-something. A double-feature with one of the greatest female actresses that the world has ever seen in the lead-at a great price. Highly recommended

Great movie with Joan Crawford but it is in black&white.

Mommie!
The quality of the print is just fine. Although I would have preferred a different double feature without Berserk. But hey, it was cheap and why not?

Great deal!
Two excellent outlandish Joan Crawford movies from the 60s. Very entertaining and frequently unintentionally funny. Joan gives 200 %. I was almost expecting a bad transfer with the price being so low (8.95 ) but no. The image and sound are terrific and I like having them both on one disc. I have the dvds of both of these films and this bluray has the best versions of both of these films.

Great movie classics.
This is a really good movie combo. I enjoyed watching them. Bette Davis is an excellent movie star. These are both classics.

Great Stuff!
First off, the quality of the blu-ray on both films is fantastic! So it's like getting the same quality of the separate, more expensive releases (of each film), for less than half the price! Then movie wise; BERSERK, of course, is classic, fun cheese, with a couple of good, early day splatter scenes. STRAIT-JACKET is also enjoyable.

I don't think Joan would've approved.
Strait-Jacket does not look like it's been remastered for blu ray at all . Some scenes are clear then some look fuzzy . There are no special features for either movie. Berserk looks ok the color is good the sound is good but again it's just not up to the quality that a blu ray should offer. The pricing is great but just because something is inexpensive doesn't mean the quality should be inadequate. It's worth it just for Berserk.

A rare film.
If I had been rating Straight Jacket alone I would have given this 3 stars. It is a typical William Castle B-movie, entertaining but no more. What drives me through the roof is Berserk. I have been looking for this film for over 40 years. I saw this as a teenager and had almost given up hope of ever seeing it again. This sordid story of a series of sadistic murders plaguing a circus is fabulous. Part who-done-it, part Hammer Horror film, this is highly entertaining and features a great cast.

Strait-Jacket / Berserk!: Psycho Biddy Double Feature from Mill Creek Entertainment
A splendid pairing of two late Joan Crawford performances. In Strait Jacket (1964), Crawford is Lucy Harbin, a woman committed to an insane asylum after brutally killing her husband and his mistress with an axe. She is reunited with her family, and aside from some nightmares and visions, appears to be handling things adequately, Then, one by one, folks seem to be disappearing. Has Lucy returned to her old habits? In Berserk! (1967), Crawford is Monica Rivers, the ruthless ringmistress of a floundering traveling circus that gets its second wind — paradoxically — after a series of gruesome deaths involving some of its participants. Is someone trying to sabotage the circus, or is Monica seeking revenge after anyone who gets in her way? Both films look superb in this HD release; Strait Jacket is strikingly photographed in black and white, while Berserk's color palate favors reds and oranges. Fine grain is evident but is never distracting. The lossless audio for both films is solid, although Strait Jacket fares somewhat better. Recommended,
