Los Angeles Times Sunday Crossword Puzzles, Volume 23 (The Los Angeles Times) Spiral-bound – July 13, 2004

A friend gave me a couple of these omnibus crossword books awhile back - one NY Times Sunday crosswords and one LA Times. I used to love doing the NYT crosswords, but found I prefer the LAT. Now I'm hooked! I've bought 4-5 more and put 2 in my guest room for when my son and DIL visit. They do the NYT online puzzle every evening before bed, but that started to disappoint them as well so I thought this would be a good alternative. There is a lot of word play in these, which I enjoy. You get 200 crosswords in each omnibus, so they last a pretty long while and are a good price at $12-15 each.

Boy, were these fun to do! All of these have some sort of theme, some of which were extremely clever and challenging. If you like doing crosswords, you will enjoy this collection.

Good medium level puzzles.

Size of puzzle blocks are quite small. Challenging puzzles but not overwhelming.

I love this book. The puzzles are hard, but not too hard. And, of course, the answers are in the back if needed.

LA Times puzzles are always fun and challenging. Spiral binding makes for comfortable use. My only complaint is the cheap, newspaper-print paper used in the book. I do my puzzles with a felt tip pen, and they bleed through the page.

LA Times crosswords are my favorite! Just diffficult enough to make them challenging but not so difficult it takes all day to finish one.I enjoyed the first book in this series so much I couldn't wait to get the second one. Volume One has a spiral binding which makes it easy to fold back and work on either side of the page, however, Volume Two does not have a spiral biinding so it is more difficult to work on the left side puzzles. I, as well as many other people, have solved this by tearing the pages out and placing them on a clip board.The paper is not the best quality but for most Xword puzzle nuts it won't matter that much. The challange of coming up with the correct answer and learning something new (a word, concept, place, etc.) are what matter most to me, and I look forward to finding those attributes in these puzzles every day.

Bought this as a gift for a family member who lives and breathes crosswords and they have really enjoyed doing them. Great price. Would recommend.
