Works very well
Used this during a multi day hike through knoydart and it worked very well. peace of mind that it also filters viruses. only negative for me was after filtering water and storing the thing, water from inside would leak back out the bottom. if I had some way to seal the hole at the bottom after use. it wouldbe a bit more practical.

Worked reasonably well to filter water while drinking it
Worked really well to filter water while you are drinking it although I did find it a little bit awkward to hold and the first one or two uses have little bits that came through. After that it works great

Lightweight and practical filter straw
This is a very handy piece of kit, especially for multi-day wild camping or long hikes. The straw weighs only 80 grammes and is very small, so it is easy to carry around with your gear, and if you can plan your route to pass near some water sources, it will save you having to lug several litres of water around with you.The water filter straw can be used in two different ways: either by using the extendable drinking tube or by attaching the filter directly to a water bladder or plastic bottle. The extendable straw is very handy and allows you to drink in a more comfortable position without having to get down low near the water source. One small niggle with the design is that after using the straw, water remaining in the filter will leak out the bottom. This is not a major issue, as you can carry the straw in one of the outside mesh pockets of your backpack, but a removable lid would be a handy and easy solution.Other than this small issue, I think £24.99 is a very reasonable price for easy access to safe and clean drinking water when camping or on the trail.

good for travelling abroad with....
Although I can't really see much of a need for this rpoduct in the UK it is good for travelling abroad with. For UK use it's most likely to be handy for campers so one can filter the river water before drinking it. However, for those that know the full flavour of mineral rich water that is darnk driectly from a fast flowing mountain river it is likely to dissapoint one as many of those minerals will be filtered and the water just won't taste the same. When travelling abroad this will be a great thing to carry in one's luggage if travelling to Asia, South America or Africa, where water quality is not of a high standard and can be a be a bit dangerous to drink. Even bottles water has been known to be contaminated so this product can also purify bottled water. One musn't forget that there are also two European nations, where travellers go for cheap budget holidays, that also has dangerous water (might explain why many holidaymakers drink so much beer) and this product can be used there to make drinking water much safer.Although the box ststes that this is good for up to 1400ltrs of water one does have to consider the reality. If you have a water filter jug and / or a filter kettle then you will be aware that even the filters from the top brand rarely reach the 30 days lifespan before the water quality is reduced. So, to be on the safe side I wouldn't use this rpoduct much more than 1,000ltrs as filters do eventually get caked with contaminants and they do eventually start seeping through. This product is very good value when one considers the initial price of it. If used to filter tap water or bottled water then it adds around 3p per litre to the price of that water but if it is used for filtering spring / river water, which is free at source, then the total cost is around 3p per litre, which is far, far, far cheaper than the cost of bottled or tap water.Overall, I do like this product and do find it is good value so I am recommending it. However, it would have been nice if the initial cost was a little higher and a spare filter was included.

Useful
Come the Zombie apocalypse, Net Zero, or just hiking in the wilds, the sage of advice of check upstream for a dead sheep, etc., if you are going to drink the water was always a gamble.A water filtration system allows safe drinking from a wild water source with the reassurance that clean potable water can be drawn, and this kit delivers this.Besides the unit, there is a second filter along with a flexible plastic tubing/straw (at 0.8M) there are two water bags allowing you to trek across arid lands (at 480ml each) there are also 2 carabiners for these, and a storage pouch and leaflet manual. The issue is that there is no link to more replacement filters, and a simple search "Pure Clear Filter" in Amazon brings up a similar product from the same seller.I hope replacement filters are made available. Otherwise, this could be a problem. It is great that this is a UK company, and I think the asking price at the time of review is a reasonable £32.99 (provided replacement filters are made available).
