These socks seemed perfect for someone turning 70 and looked a great gift idea. They come in a cardboard envelope with the washing instructions on the outside. There is not a speck of plastic packaging to be seen as the socks are just folded inside the envelope. That, however, is where they ceased to impress. The socks are incredibly thin. They are a mixture of cotton/polyester and spandex but just feel like thin cheap nylon socks. They are so thin that you can see through them. They fit well, but the ankle cuff is double welt and a very tight fit. It stretches okay, but an overly snug fit. Considering these socks are for a 70 year old, these things are not great. A lot of 70 year olds are starting to feel the cold more, and looking for thicker socks (especially in colder weather) plus swollen ankles become more of an issue with age, so overly tight cuffs are not a good idea. At the price of £5.99, I feel they do not represent good value for money, as even with joke socks, you would expect a nicely wearable pair of socks.
