tremendous graphics
Like most first person shooter games that quickly bore you this program puts you in the cockpit of some classic warplanes The real entertainment here are the graphics and authentic artwork of the planes and geography. Full after burner flights, dogfights, and ground straffing have never been more fun 💥

A recipe for success with a slightly disappointing taste
So having really enjoyed the "big 3" ace combats (4,5,0) and knowing where they were drawing from, i went into this game with moderately high hopes. and all in all, it delivered what the last few games needed to do; more plane combat and a return to the best part of strangereal. thing is, i feel the game had something of an identity crisis. so without spoiling anything, the story isnt bad but fluxes a few times. first it starts of ace combat 5 wardogs style, then a sudden "it was your fault" moment happens and now you are in a penal squad full of the most unlikable and unmemorable pilots around, without any of the cheese the last games wingmen had. the most interesting parts of the story take off after the penal legion parts, but quite a bit before the climax as the tone changes from being a flying chain gang to sheer chaos from stupidity both high commands did- and i never though a night escort mission for a ground unit would be so enjoyable for it. some of my dislikes of the game aren't too big, but enough they made my overall experience less fun. the wingmen in combat are utterly useless, you can't command them or even ask them to watch your tail, so the game's pretty ok soundtrack is often overshadowed by WARNING MISSILE (x4) BEEP BEEP BEEP. this leads to another issue, most of the game's enemies are UAVs. no more aces with a bone to pick or even nearly as much enemy radio chatter as they crap themselves over the (cool named squadron you are in) tearing them apart. now come for the 2 worst offenders of the game; the HUD and the weather gimmicks. hoo boy. so the hud is simple; in a game where most of the battles are now in thick cloud cover, pale green and red is a pain to try and read- there are no sliders or even options to go with darker colors. also, when the UAV swarms happen? you have to slowly pick your way through all the targets to find the high priority targets. seeing the D pad in single player has no use, why not do what other games period do and say, press down or up on the dpad to scroll though nearest mission targets? as for weather, the gimmick is cool the first time it shows up, battling an ace in a thunderstorm that has lightning that can stun you for a second. then it feels like every other mission has to involve some sort of weather gimmick all the while drowning you in UAVs. the sandstorm mission later in the game was pretty unfun to play as the moment you rise above the pitch black swirl of sand, our old friend WARNING MISSILE LOCK fills your ears. the last isnt so much a complaint as an observation; to many of the games levels had target rich ground zones... but the game has only 2 attack aircraft (A-10, Fullback). that's kind of a shame, really. and the one or 2 missions you can use an A-10, i feel like they constrain you time wise with how the mission plays out then almost always ends a level in swarming air to air combat, so you can't just focus on popping rows of tanks or whatever. still, this game is the ace combat we needed for a long time. my fairly low 3 star review would be a 4, but i'm still quite sore i didn't (and still have not) gotten any of my pre order bonuses from amazon, nor do i look forward to being on the phone for several hours with them. while not as good as the big 3, it does draw some good qualities from them and *at least its not assault horizon*. UPDATE: sent code, thus 4 star rating now.

A GEM OF TRUE SIGHT
I've played all of the AC games and loved every single one of them. AC 7 still doesn't disappoint. There's a lot of crying going on about the bonus content not being provided. With a little bit of effort (I agree no one should have to work for something they paid for) you can have the content sent to you or in some cases (like mine) a new disc sent to you that should also include the content code. As for the game because that's what the reviews should REALLY be about: The cut scenes are really fun to watch and the plot in general feels like a movie. Aircraft detail and flight characteristics are unique. It has both a combination of arcade and simulator feel. On first flight, the game defaults to assistance with controls, that is, the aircraft won't roll and what not. So you can turn that off in the settings and get the full yaw, roll and pitch fully controlled by YOU. Graphics are breathtaking and the level of variety sets a new standard for flying games. I am so glad that AC still continues to be made. IT almost reminds me (if anyone remembers back in the late 90's the Jane's Combat Simulation games, USNF and ATF and all those through the realism and variety of aircraft). Glad to have bought this game, the bonus content to me was just extra so I didn't care if I got it or not, I already beat those games anyway. Haven't tested out the multiplayer yet but I hope to see you all out there in the air!!

The main player feels fine, but anyone watching from the side lines, look out. Looks like alot of fun but I didn't get much of a look in.

I have played the ace combat Balkan war game on Ps2 and this is the first ace combat game I have played after that but seeing the planes and some of the missions I got to relive the experience I once had while playing the Balkan war on my PS. Good game and a really good story.
