Ideal for those larger seeds
I have used these root trainers for years. They work well and make growing and transplanting beans, sweetcorn etc., a breeze. They are robust and will last several seasons so good value for money.

Great for growing on plug plants even the micro plugs
Not used this brand before but I first used "root trainers" some 40 years ago and found them to be an excellent way of growing on plug plants as well as seeds. These are more flimsy than the first ones and of course are much more costly but if they give the same service will be money well spent. I have some micro plug plants - primula and winter pansies and will give them a go and will update my review once I see how they do.December 2019 - The primula and winter pansies are doing great, they are now of a size to pot on or plant out and if the frost keeps away that is what I will be doing. Certainly a good buy and in fact I bought another to start of seeds for the spring.

Sweet Peas sown and germinated.
The root trainers seemed a little on the flimsy side but once filled no mishaps, just take care and they're fine. Good possibility they will need to be replaced next year but then maybe so will I, LOL.Seemed a little on the thin side but then I was not planning on being able to use them again, but maybe I am wrong only time will tell.Bit too soon to make any predictions until the plants have established themselves. I suspect not,. but that'll only be answered in time.

Amazing results with my sweet peas last year, trying runner beans with this new set
These longer Rottrainers are fantastic. It's not a gimmick, they are scientifically designed to encourage the roots to go down, then when the reach the hle at the bottom the lead root stops and lots of side roots start to grow. What thiss means is, no more roots circling round & round the pot. |That means no damaging roots trying to tease them out and therefore less damage to the roots & the plant has a head start when transplanted.I always had problems growing sweet peas before I used these last year. The cells can be removed and opened up if you need to see what stage the root growth is at so no damage when trying to price it out of the pot. If they are not ready you gently close the cell and put it back into the rack a little longer. Another benefit to this is you can see if all the roots are getting wet when watered. Sometimes you think the roots are getting enough but they aren't..When you use it the first time you might think the cells won't al fit into the rack but they will. I click the cells together & place them in the rack empty, that helps. If you have a problem don't put the last cell at the end, move the 2nd to last cell out to the end and slide the last one in the gap left behind, I find that works best. This is my 3rd pack as I am going to try runner beans this year as well as sweet peas. There are 32 cells in each pack so that will be more than enough for me and the extras will be for experimenting with vegetables. I don't think for root veg as they normally have one tap root but maybe peas & broad beans and , once transplanted maybe some sunflowers for my grandchildren if there is enough time. The ones I bought last year had no covers but these do, that is a bonus as it will get the seedling to germinate quicker I hope.I will continue to use these in the future and am very pleased that the ones I used last year have ben washed & stored in the shed and have not suffered any cracks or other damge. I think that is because you don't have to push & strain to get the plants out, just open the cells up like a box with a lid. So easy

Haxnicks 12 cm Rootrainers Set (Pack of 2) - the best quality rootrainer I have bought so far.

Over all good product
Really love these, do exactly what they are designed to do.Unfortunately, for me, they have lost a star for two reasons. The first is the tray is too small and can only fit 7 root trainer books in not 8. You may be able to force the 8th in if not for my second point - the root trainer books are very thin and flimsy so it wouldn't take much to rip or break them. I also only had 15 root trainers and not 16 , as I wouldn't be able to use all 16 at once anyway, I honestly couldn't be bothered to return them!Having said all of this though, over all very good product, just could do with a few tweaks. Fast delivery, packaged well.

Peas please!
Professional root trainers for a novice gardener - excited to see the root formation on my early onward peas. I had an issue with packaging - the sellers were fantastic and very professional with my questions answered within an hour.Lots of YouTube videos about how to get the most from these root trainers and I love the idea that they are more sustainable and will last me several years.

Empfehlenswert
Wirklich empfehlenswert.
