Best books for teaching children to read!

These books have been around for years and with good reason. I have used them in my 40+ years of teaching and always have great success with them.

I've used these for decades. Love the updated version. My cohort of students needs the slow pace with phonics repetition that this series affords. The stories are cute and entertaining and the children love them.

My son reads these at school and they are great to use in conjunction with learning phonograms. I would definitely recommend purchasing.

The key with this and other phonics books seems to be 1) parental guidance to teach new letter-combo-sounds, 2) lots of repetition, and 3) insistence that the child "sound it out -- don't guess".

I love these books! They are the perfect books to guide readers to the next level. You know exactly what skill to practice in words before reading each book since the skills are outlined on the back cover. The inside cover provides a list of the specific skill words and sight words used in the book to review before reading. This set is well worth the investment!

Decent difficulty and length. I ask my 4.5-year-old to read one before bed every day and so far work out well.
