A really nice installment in this series
I've been playing the Yukes WWE games since Smackdown V Raw on the PS2. There have been some good ones and some stinkers but I'm pleased to say that, after a few years break for me, this one is a good. There have been some gameplay tweaks including new payback options for when you are in trouble and it includes the best roster that I think this game has had (it's huge and reflect the incredible roster WWE/NXT has right now and some great legends). In top os that there is a Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) showcase and a fully voiced (and good for the first time in ages) career mode.Overall this is worth a go for wrestling game fans. It's the best I've played in a good few years.

Great game!
Great game can't fault Amazon delivery on day of release. I only wish I could wait month or two two by in on sale. But alas I've very managed it in 10 year.

GLITCHY AND A LOAD OF CRAP FIX THE GAME!!!!!!!!!
Wish I gave this a review 0 wouldn’t let me! So glitchy every time you throw a punch or a kick the wrestler always misses and when you are in the 1st match in Daniel Bryan’s showcase the commentators talk about what happened at summerslam when hhh turned on him and then randy orton cashed in when it was in the 1st god damn match in showcase and Corey graves and Byron saxton are commentating in the 1st match of Daniel Bryan’s showcase which happened years and years ago when he debuted JUST DOESNT MAKE SENSE!! This game is a pile of s***

Well worth it
I bought this for my son. I haven’t seen him since. If you are wondering whether to buy the most recent version or save some money on this one then wonder no more. This was a bargain and will continue to delight my son for many, many months. Well worth it.

2K really needs an attitude adjustment
WWE 2K19 is more of the same from a franchise that got its start almost 19 years ago and what has changed is small, (such as a new 'payback' system) and other features such as the Showcase Mode have returned. The Showcase Mode features Daniel Bryan and is generally good but the same problems remain and most noticeably in a lack of checkpoints. This can be absolutely exasperating after fighting through a 15-20 minute match and then to lose or someone else be pinned or submit when you can't get up. Furthermore some of the objectives are very fiddly and cause more annoyance but the package as a whole is very much more stunted than in previous titles and you can get through it in about 4-5 hours. I would have liked to have seen something far more comprehensive on Bryan's career but it's still better than nothing at all. This year's new 'payback system' enables you to store it and use it as a finisher in order to turn the tide of a match. I have not found myself using these abilities extensively as of yet but being able to store finishers, reverse them, play possum and more adds to the variety of a match and the basic gameplay is generally solid. This gives it a bit more of an arcade feel but it is still very heavily a simulation experience. My Career also returns and is much better than the hot garbage of WWE 2K18 which was so boring. The story has voice overs (except for John Cena and the replacement is hilarious) and all are fine. However, the lip syncing is very off and it's noticeable. The writing is not really that good either and at best the story can be described as average but it will at least keep you playing until the end which it didn't in WWE 2K18. One of the biggest criticisms of My Career and the entire game is 2K's obsession with microtransactions although you can level up your character and collect parts but it takes a while. I long for the days when you could just create a superstar or entrance with all the parts and in 2K19 it leaves your wrestler very generic, unless you pay up, in a creation suite that is generally considered one of the deepest in games. The purchaseables permeate the entire game and this isn't new with 2K making money from the accelerator to essentially unlock everything. The roster is packed and with far more women this time around but is also missing some key legends like Mick Foley and crucially if you want it all from the outset you'll have to pay for it or be prepared to grind for tons of hours to unlock stuff. So, for instance if you want to have a Universe Mode to your liking from the get-go you can forget it.I haven't played Universe Mode as much as some of the other modes but what is there is fine. I'd like the ability to properly filter the roster which is huge and that's without unlockables which makes managing rosters a chore. In WWE 2K19 you can set Money in the Bank winners and on both shows and there are more titles going from 4 to 6. Unfortunately the actual championships look as though they've been submerged in beeswax or some really cheap polish and just don't look right but that's not really something that has ever really been perfected. Entrances are great for the most part and wrestlers do look a bit better this year on the whole or there are less clangers, but there are still some models that just look off. Also new this year is the Towers Mode which gives you the ability to compete in the 'Millon Dollar Challenge' but be quick as it expires at the end of January. Anyway, this mode consists of multiple matches with varying conditions such as match types or at 2x the gameplay speed. It's a fun addition but of all the modes I still find you can't really beat exhibition for just jumping in to a quick match set to your liking. The biggest improvement gameplay wise this year are the updated cage matches which are so much better. There's an actual struggle in matches now and you can also use the door to escape as in previous titles. Hell in a Cell has also been updated although I haven't played it with making it easier to escape the cell. Weapons have been removed which is a justifiable bone of contention and I can't really see why 2K has done it either. It cannot be overstated how much better cage matches are now though.Graphically, six and eight man matches now work! It's terrible that 2K were too lazy to properly fix it last time around but it is much better here but slowdown remains and especially when the match begins and that's in all match types.---Summary--- (Scored out of 10)Graphics 8 - Great lighting, effects and entrances. Some of the wrestler models are still not right and clipping is still an issue and has been in virtually every game since WWE '12.Sound 7 - The commentary is a bit better but it's still horrible and the soundtrack quickly grates but can be switched off. The mat sounds of bumps in the ring are very good and much better than before.Gameplay 7 - WWE 2K19 feels a little faster but problems with reversals remain where you press to reverse and it does nothing.Lifespan 7 - Showcase and My Career can be completed in 12-15 hours and there is lots of stuff within Universe Mode. The biggest drawback is the content locking which you can get around but you really shouldn't have to pay extra for content that is already on the disc.---Verdict---I only purchased WWE 2K19 because it was on sale and Evolution is back in the game! But seriously this isn't worth full price and especially if you have 2K18. I would really struggle in terms of buying next year's version barring a radical overhaul because while nothing is absolutely broken it does generally feel like a subpar experience from the poorly finished story on a technical level to the hit and miss wrestler models and the stagnant but functional gameplay. If you enjoy WWE either now or in yesteryear, you will find something to enjoy here but it's still not worth full price. This is all about the licence which prints money and the actual product as a whole is lacking but I did enjoy it more than 2K18.
