It says that it is rechargeable and can be used cord free. It is not rechargeable and can not be used cordless free unless you use it without the light on. It has a red light when you plug it in. Thinking that when it was charged it would go to green but never did. I even purchased another thinking the one didn't work. Nothing in the instruction book provided said anything about being rechargeable. I was going to take this on trips where plugging it in wouldn't work. Was hoping that it was rechargeable. It is a great magnifying lamp if you are working where you have access to a plug in. Great base that doesn't tip easy. I like the rectangular magnifying lens.So much easier to see through than the little circle one. Maybe I can find a solar charger where I could plug it into. Still giving it five stars because it is designed well.

I ordered this to help me check electronic circuit boards easier. I decided on this vs. round LED magnifying lamps because this offers a wider magnification and lighted area.The lamp and base come unassembled with a USB-A adapter plug, an Allen wrench, and two Allen head screws (one extra), a cleaning cloth, and instructions.On the base plate there is a bump. On the stalk there is a recessed area that you must align with the bump on the base plate. This prevents the stalk from shifting. When viewing, the magnifying lens needs to be over the base plate and the instructions recommend not positioning the lamp more than 20º away from the base to prevent the lamp from tipping over.Color temperature is adjustable and the magnification is very good for what I will use it for. The light is nice and bright.

Worke great! Replaced it with a bar light and magnifying glass. But this light did a good job of lighting things up so you can read those pesky microcontroller.

Needed for mom with macular degeneration and wanted a glass lens with no distortion. This is it with high magnification. Just don’t like the stand. It’s tippy. Otherwise Great!
