Ocean Kayak Caper Angler Sit-On-Top Fishing Kayak

I love this thing. Just the perfect size for my solo fishing trips. I would prefer something with more storage but can't guarantee someone will be there to help me. After 4-6 hours of casting and paddling, even 10 pounds feels like 100 pounds. Last thing I want to do is lift 60+ pounds on top of my van to secure before I go home.I've read reviews all over. Some say it's slow and doesn't track well. Took it to a local lake in Southern California, Castaic Lake (Lagoon). It is decent on speed and tracks very well, even when the wind picks up. I have not used a touring or sea kayak so I can't compare but they are not comparable to begin with. This is a light weight fishing kayak used for recreation. And it does the job very well.

Great job amazon! This kayak is well worth the price I paid which was $576! It's extremely stable, tracks well, and is a great boat to fish from. This is the 2014 version of the caper which means that ocean kayak has their newly molded in handles which are significantly more comfortable and last longer than the previous models. I also fish on another kayak which is the trident 13 model from ocean kayak. The caper is not the best fishing kayak but it serves a purpose. It's lighter and around a foot shorter than most high end fishing kayaks so it doesn't necessarily perform as great on the water but when I'm launching off a hard to access kayak launch point or just when I'm not in the mood to tow my other 70 lb kayak this is my go too kayak. All in all this is a great purchase.

Very stable fishing platform. I can actually stand up in it. I like the self bailing scuppers, sometimes you get a bit wet but that has never bothered me. It is faster than other reviewers have made it out to be. It is also light and easy to put on top of the car.
