Sturdy theropod
This is an affordable theropod dinosaur figure from Mattel’s Jurassic World Hammond Collection. Metriacanthosaurus appeared only as an embryo that Dennis Nedry steals in Jurassic Park. So she is both canon and optional for collectors. In my opinion, this figure is suitable for collectors and play because it’s joints are suitably stiff and there’s the right number of articulation points - jaws, neck, shoulders, elbows, hip-leg joint, knees, ankles, tail. Tail can be bend. I find that figures with more articulation don’t stand well. The coloration is shades of brown, which sounds boring but looks great. Think chocolate ice cream atop hazelnut ice cream. My only complaint is the shade of brown on the snout - Metriacanthosaurus look like it brown-nosed somebody in order to get made into a figure.Speaking of the snout, the head sculpt helps this dinosaur to stand apart from other theropods. She looks stout and sturdy, not particularly skin-wrapped. When playing or making diorama, this Metriacanthosaurus could be a mini boss who menaces our heroes only to be swatted by the T. rex.
