This product is an adapter that allows a typically SSD drive from a laptop to be "mounted" in a desktop's 3.5inc hard drive enclosure.Technically it serves the purpose and what advertised, so now my desktop can use a faster speed and more quiet SSD harvested from a laptop.There are imperfections observed:1. It is plastic, apparently to be ABS or ABS+PC plastic. Unfortunately there is no metal except the mounting holes. The place where the SSD sits on do not have extra "slots" for heat dissipation. So a result of these two would yield a result that the heat generated from the SSD is difficult to be dissipated.2. No extra tiny screws giving for mounting the SSD drive. Need to find those somewhere else.3. As seen in my attached pictures, the SSD isn't perfectly fit, there are gaps around it. Also, when putting it in and connecting the connector, it isn't so easy, a little bit tricky.Hope it is metal so the heat can be dissipated much better.Otherwise, it still serve the basic purpose to allow a SSD to be mount inside a 3.5 hard drive enclosure.

I buy these kinds of adapters a-lot, maybe in last year I bought over 100 of them. For the first time I wanted try this one, which is popped up in Amazon page. I bought three of them. I gave these 2 stars, just because they work, If I wasn't in rush I would return these. why? First, it is very cheap plastic, and its flimsy. Second, it comes only with 4 SSD screws, and one small screwdriver, no hard drive screws. Third, the screws' locations under the adapter are upside down, the side locations are correct. fourth, based on quality, the price is too high, I bought another brand, comes with all screws, screwdriver, and hard bag with zipper for storage. To be honest with you, I like ORICO brand, but this one is disappointing, I don't think I am going to buy this anymore.

Nothing in the description mentions this so technically it's not really misleading, but the design of the caddy really does imply that it has some cooling capacity with the 'fins' on the caddy. Basically they're just racing stripes and serve no practical purpose. The caddy does it's job otherwise, but you're not getting much better that you could get from other adapters/brackets.

Used it to mount an old laptop hard drive in a 3.5 bay. Funny enough had an orico mount to put the other laptop drive in the 5.25 bay for the mirrored data volume. For ten bucks this does the job. I like orico.
