A few tweaks in the options and a patch or two and I managed to get the old game working on my 3yr old rig, with windows 10. It refuses to play un-windowed, but the nostalgia and fun of this arcade WW1 flying game soon takes your mind of it. Just as fun as I remember

Wings of War
I can't really agree with the criticisms above. This game has first class graphics. It gets harder as you progress through a career and the scenarios are many and varied. The key to success in this game, as real combat pilots will tell you, is to get in close to your adversary and lead your target with your gun sight. If you want a real challenge then play the game on line against 10 or 15 others. You will know you've been in a fight! All games have areas that can be ciriticised, but for me as a lover of WWI aeroplanes and good graphics this has a lot less than most.

Best WW1 flight sim I've come across
Compared to WW2 and later, there is very little production of WW1 material. If you want to simulate WW1 flight in a wide range of aircraft types, with alternative paint schemes for each, this is the goods. Another reviewer mentioned the bouncing (invulnerable) aircraft effect - but it certainly crashed for me. I'm not really into the gaming side, but the fact that I was downed more often than doing the "downing" seemed a realistic outcome. The training programme seemed especially good and comprehensive.

stick and rudder flight combat
A great fun WW1 air combat game, you will really work hard with the aircraft controls, looping, skidding, rolling, all the time to get your sights on the enemy aircraft and lots of ground targets. You are timed for mission completion, if you don't make first time, you start again. Pretty good detail of battle damage in the air and on the ground. Not for the serious minded type of flight sim person, but none the less its good value and good fun.

Good Fun
Bought this game a few years back and just started playing it again, I'd forget what cracking good fun this game is, Yes the simulation factor is somewhat unrealistic and quite arcade like the gameplay and graphics are still some of the best i've seen I play via a 32inch tv and it's like the real thing i'd highly reccomend.

If you need some mindless fun then.......
I remember the day when I used to play Red Baron, I loved that game and thought I would like to buy it again. Unfortunately as time and Mr. Gates moved on it is not available for Windows2000 so I looked for a fun alternative. Well, this game is fun, the graphics are rather good and it's a fair attempt at satisfying the need for Red Baron. What it's not is a flight simulator, the physics engine is laughable, you will constantly see aircraft defying the laws of gravity and you can nose dive into the ground and bounce off. Unfortunately this ends up spoiling it for me, the combat is so dumbed down that it becomes monotonous, I really just wanted to dogfight with a Bi-plane in a realistic manner......still looking then....
