My favorite pan of the six nonsticks I own
UPDATE: June 26 2019: I still like the pan very much, but using the pan under the broiler at high heat has degraded the non-stick surface somewhat. The surface still cleans easily after I soak it with dish soap but there is definitely a reduction in the non-stick performance--NOT FROM USING IT ON THE STOVE TOP OR FROM GENERAL OVEN USE. My previous pan, a Greenpan, also degraded likewise. I believe broiler use is OK as long as the low heat setting is used only (all the broilers I've seen offer Low vs High heat settings only).ORIGINAL: I own five nonstick pans including two 7-inch Vollraths, an 8-inch Ozeri, and an 11-inch Greenpan saute pan. This Valira pan out-performs the Ozeri, gives my top of the line Vollrath a serious run for the money, and it easily blows away my disappointing Greenpan. This Valira 9½-inch pan has become my favorite pan for lunch and dinner meals. I use the pan at least several times per week, always putting the pan under the broiler at high heat, and have yet to see any diminishment of the nonstick surface. and the pan is the easiest of my pans to clean. The customer pic you see above, showing the scorched pan bottom, is easily cleaned with either Kleen King or BarKeeper's Friend. My pan has not warped from the high heat under the broiler. This is a very versatile pan that can work on any stovetop as well as in the oven. Compared to my heavy Greenpan which steadily loses its nonstick quality each time I use the "oven-safe" pan in the oven , the Valira keeps going and going just as new, and the light weight feel of the pan makes it easy to handle when you're cleaning it. Going forward, I plan to buy at least one more Valira pan to replace the Greenpan and never touch Greenpan again. Vollrath and Valira, baby, is all you need.

Awesome heat transfer and so far so good on the non-stick
I have tried a lot of pans. My favorite is carbon steel and if I had a gas stove that is what I would be using. For my ceramic cooktop, this is the best pan I’ve found. It had a perfectly flat bottom which facilitates heat transfer. I’ve used this almost daily since August (4 months) and the non stick is still perfect. I have already thrown out the GreenPan that I purchased at the same time.It has a nice weight to it and the handle has a good balance to it. The handle has yet to be too hot to the touch. Highly recommend if you’re looking for non-stick or a flat bottom pan for ceramic or induction cooktops. Ordering another one in a different size.

a HEAVY pan with an extra thick aluminum bottom, almost too heavy for me to lift
Although the description says "ultra lightweight", it's not the least bit light. We all have our opinions as to what's light or heavy, while this certainly isn't as heavy as cast iron, it's not light either. When there's food in it, I use 2 hands to lift so I don't drop it from it being so heavy. Which is one reason I hate cast iron, it's too heavy for me to pick up. This needs an extra handle across from the other one to help lift it.Larger than I expected, I wish it came with a lid. This can fit 4 fairly large burgers all at once, or enough scrambled eggs to feed 4 people. I love the heavy duty quality and I'm hoping it won't scratch easily. The bottom of the skillet is clad with an extra thickness of aluminum. What I really love is it doesn't slide around much on electric coil burners, like my cheap Rachael Ray cookware did, making it dangerous. This can also be used in an oven, the label on the pan says +260° Celsius, which is equivalent to around +480 to +500°F. Higher than I ever turn my oven up to!The directions also say to wipe oil and heat up the pan prior to first use, which I've never done with nonstick cookware before. It's like what you do to cast iron.

Wow! Great pan!!!
Incredible pan for the price. Purchased two. My favorite I’ve cooked with in the past few years easily. I love the feel of these too. Not ultra light but has a great feel. I love it!

Large cooking area, very nonstick and lightweight; handle stays cool
I do the majority of cooking in our home. Nonstick cookware makes life so much easier. I already have a nonstick 12 inch skillet made by another manufacturer, but I was curious to see how this skillet from Valira compares with it.This Valira skillet arrived in an open plastic bag and no box. A cardboard strip surrounded the skillet end with brief instructions printed in several languages on it. It advised hand washing the skillet with soap and hot water, drying it, applying a coat of cooking oil to the nonstick area, and heating it before usage. It wasn't clear if they meant this to season the skillet or for cooking. After doing an internet search, though, I was surprised to learn that nonstick skillets should be seasoned periodically for best performance. I had never heard that previously, but I went ahead and did so. I put a tablespoon or so of vegetable oil in the skillet, wiped it all over the nonstick surface with a paper towel, and heated the skillet over medium-high heat until the oil smoked. After it cooled I wiped off any remaining oil. I noticed the handle on the skillet did not get hot during this process, so the advertised stay cool handle is true. I also noticed the oil beaded up into tiny droplets during this process, much like water beads on a freshly waxed car, so the skillet is quite nonstick even without seasoning.Compared with my other 12 inch skillet, this Valira skillet is lighter and easier to handle. The handle is big, comfortable to use, and stays cool during cooking. The walls of this skillet stick straight up, which offers a little more cooking surface. The depth is about the same as my other skillet. The skillet seems to heat faster than my other skillet, it seems to heat evenly, and its nonstick surface is very slick. I would expect this in any new skillet, and it remains to be seen how seasoning it periodically will affect its performance over time. I seasoned one of my other, smaller, nonstick skillets after this and found it was more nonstick by doing so. So I plan to do this with all of my skillets (it is even advised to season stainless steel skillets). I find skillet is very easy to clean after usage. It should be hand washed and not put in a dishwasher.Overall, I really like this Valira Aire skillet. It is lightweight, easy to use and maintain, and the stay cool handle is great. It is expensive compared with other similar skillets, but I think some of this can be attributed to its high quality construction. It is manufactured in Spain, and import taxes may also account for its higher cost. If you are looking for a good quality, nonstick skillet, though, the Valira Aire is worth consideration.
