This is perfect and easy to do water changes. I bought the rlectroc one first. It never worked. This is makes up very happy.

Edit: The seller contacted me and offered a full refund, so I'm moving this back up from 1 to 4 stars. I also took it apart and found the tubes not screwed in enough. After screwing them in, the air problem went away, but when i screwed it in too tight, the one-way-flow flaps stopped working properly. I loosened them up a bit and it works good half the time, but the other half, it still simply does not suck water up when squeezing. I can only think that the one-way flaps are getting hung up on sand or something.Original: This thing does not maintain a vacuum so syphoning is impossible with the tubes attached. I could not find where air was getting in. A syphon would only work for about 5 seconds before the vacuum was lost and I'd have to squeeze the trigger again. Easier to just bale the water out. Without the tubes attached and with the "gun" tip submerged, it works fine, but not with even one tube. Perhaps mine is defective and I would be willing to update my review if the seller is willing to send one that worked.

Worked great to aid in cleaning the tank out

Waste of money. I bought this to make cleanup easier but I spend more time worrying about the tubing curling up and the suction barely sucks the waste from the surface. I would watch the suction at full blast and waved it over some surface waste and it picked up about 1/4. I would not recommend buying this even if it was on sale.

Super good, easy to used, empty my tank pretty easily.

I'm not particularly impressed by this. I believe it would be effective for draining a tank, but I wouldn't suggest using it for cleaning the tank.

I’m 78 years old and I’ve had many aquariums over the years. Right now I have a 44 gallon frameless. I’ve obviously had numerous gravel cleaners. Most manual and a few electric. For my part I’ve never found an electric that really cleans and doesn’t quickly burn out. Meaning the motor quit working. This one is the best one I’ve ever used. It does take a couple of times to get used to how it works. But once you get the hang of it, works excellent. I highly recommend.

I have pretty bad arthritis in my hands and this is the first non-electric siphon that I can consistently get going. I do wish that the tubing was a little more flexible (or the bucket clip was stronger), as I found it difficult to keep the tubing in my bucket. But switching out the tubing helps.
