Excellent product. It's a bit strange as it only has a slight fragrance however I would rather that than the awful smell of old perspiration!

Regular laundry detergents don't really do a good job on the smell of sweat, much to the wife's chagrin. There are some cleaning products out there which claim to work but actually just mask the smell with a stronger more pleasant smell - one I tried simply made my kit give off the aroma of oregano very powerfully - a bit weird to smell like a herb garden. This detergent does have some scent to it, and you can smell it a bit on the kit after it's been washed, but it's not all that strong. It does seem to be doing a considerably better job than regular laundry detergents, but there are still areas where if I sniff I can still get the sweat quite clearly. So it's not perfect, but still pretty good. One thing I would be concerned about, given that I try to use eco-friendly detergents as much as possible, is to how this stands in that regard. Given that it probably has to use some powerful substances to do its job, one might suspect that it isn't particularly eco-friendly. Also, because my hands were a bit tingly after handling the kit after washing, that also makes me wonder what is in here and whether it will cause skin irritation on my body as a result of wearing the kit. One eco-friendly thing to try perhaps before resorting to something like this, and which I have found to be helpful albeit not quite as good as this detergent, is soaking the kit in bicarbonate of soda for a while before washing.

This is a review for the Nikwax Sports Refresh Detergent. PROS: * Claims to be environmentally friendly including utilising a recycled plastic bottle. * I ran a mixed wash and it hasn't changed the feel or appearance of any of my clothes. * It has removed all but the strongest odours coming from my clothes. Most of my clothes smell fresh and clean after washing. * Appears to be an effective general detergent, as well as a deodoriser. I haven't tried to wash anything with any significant staining yet, but it performed well at removing small marks. * The scent is pleasant and mild - I could walk into the small room where my clothes were drying without being overpowered, unlike many other brands! CONS: * The worst-smelling of my synthetic tops are still a bit whiffy in the armpits. It's possible that I am just abnormally pongy, but I think it's unlikely that I'm that much of an outlier on that front. I'll try using the Nikwash as a pre-soak next time I wash those tops, and see if that works better. * The cap doesn't incorporate a 50ml measurement, so you're going to have to eyeball it, weigh it, or use measuring spoons from your kitchen (unless you have an scoop from another brand). * It does come out rather pricey per wash (almost 50p).

Very effective. Has a neutral smell, which is preferable to smelling like a perfumery. You get a big bottle so it lasts a decent amount of time. Nikwax is a quality brand that can be trusted.

This did get the smell out of old sports clothes after nothing else had worked, but it left behind a very strong chemical smell that wasn’t much better!

Great sports wash. Fab on cold or 30 degrees wash.

Très efficace. Enleve l'odeur de transpiration même si parfois les vêtements restent 2-3 jours dans le sac de sport. Le problème de ce produit est qu'il laisse un très fort odeur "chimique" malgré un cycle de rinçage additionnel. J'ai essayé de réduire la quantité de produit, mais l'odeur chimique persiste.

This smells weird

I am very happy with this product. Normal detergents don't seem to remove the odour from wicking-type sports clothes, but this does the trick. It leaves a nice smell in the clean fabric, too.
