This module is ideally suited to adding rotation detection to your project and is compatible with microcontrollers such as the Arduino. The encoder lets you add control to your project similar to radio volume control knobs in cars, detecting rotation direction and speed.In operation when in its resting state both A and B will be HIGH, when you turn the encoder one of them will go LOW followed by the other shortly afterwards. The first to signal LOW will provide your direction.
