Nuitritious and Tasty Chana
It's been a while I was looking for a taste of home. I'm glad they offer such quality chick peas. Delivery was quick and product is fresh. They delivered fast and their price is reasonable. Keep in mind this is NOT roasted Chana!

Very tasty
Obviously buying this product from Amazon rather than buying kala chana from the Indian grocery store I usually shop at means it costs much more, but I knew that when I ordered it. One difference between this product and the Swad brand of kala cholla I usually buy is that the Rani brand is from India and Swad kala chana is from Australia. I did not know this until I read a review and looked at my Swad brand of kala chana, and I was surprised that it was from Australia because I had always assumed it was from India. Does country of origin make a difference to the quality and taste of the product? Both brands of kala chana cook in twenty minutes in my Instant Pot, after an overnight soak. I rinse the kala chana multiple times after an overnight soak to get rid of the smelly soaking water. Then I cook it. This way you can add your spices to the cooking pot which really adds flavor to the chana. After it’s cooked I reduce the water on the sauté setting in the Instant Pot stirring periodically to prevent burning. Now the taste: there is a subtle difference between the Rani kala chana and the Australian Swad kala chana. The Rani brand is smoother in taste and texture. The Swad brand is a little mealy. It has a roughness to it. You probably won’t notice it unless you are a kala chana expert, or do a side by side taste comparison like I did. Overall the Rani brand is a tastier product, and I bought it because my Indian grocery store is too far away for me to go to and buy my usual Swad brand. Would I buy the Rani brand again? I would if I didn’t want to drive 80 miles to my nearest Indian grocery store. However, if I were to drive that far to buy my groceries then I would just pick up the Swad brand, and wish it were the Rani brand instead. The Indian grocery store I usually go to does not carry this brand of kala chana.

Great chana
I've been looking for this kind of garbanzo to make southasian chana dishes. This was just right. I soften them up by soaking them for a couple hours & then pressurecooking them before stirfrying with spices.

Nutritious and Versatile Desi Chickpeas
Kala Chana (Desi Chickpeas with Skin) is a healthy, protein-rich legume packed with fiber, vitamins, and minerals. These small, brown chickpeas retain their skin, providing additional nutrients and a delightful earthy flavor. They hold up well in cooking, making them perfect for curries, salads, and stews. When soaked and boiled, they have a firm texture and a slightly nutty taste. A great addition to vegetarian and vegan diets. Highly recommended for anyone looking to incorporate wholesome ingredients into their meals.

Compact, easy to store and reconstitute
I love chick peas. Dried peas in a sturdy bag saves space (no cans). The peas are easy to reconstitute by soaking and boiling. As well, the peas have their own unique umami flavor.

Old Chickpeas
The product is garbage is old soaked in water for 12 hours and it never soften also cooked for 6 hours it never soften, I had to add baking soda and cook for another two hours Total cocking time 8 hours meaning this product is really old for that to happen and you can tell from their own pictures the chickpeas looks like raisins.

Useful in countless vegan recipes
Can someone tell me why I ordered 4 lbs of dried chickpeas?! It was probably one of those late night have-another-beer-dude situations. Though by spending 20% more I received 2x the chickpeas, compared to the 2 lb offering. I’ve found several recipes using them (vegan BBQ chickpea pizza anyone?) and so I’m slowly dipping my toes into the chickpea water so to speak. Well packaged, cheap, vast quantity, useful in countless vegan recipes. Guess I did good after all.

The plastic bag was torn due to mishandling. But, the product was intact.

I buy a lot of their products and I am never disappointed at the quality. Being a vegetarian I can be quite picky but Rani never disappoints me.
