Laika...: A Love Story

This will be short - Laika is a beautiful story!

From the first page I was transported back in time, I found myself realizing how life there was. I quickly became involved with the idea and emotion of the characters, life may not be what you imagined for yourself. In hard situations love will exceed your expectations because love always finds a way. For a first novel of a truly special author I was rooting for the characters. Feeling an emotional connection that transcends the pages. Tears yes, hope absolutely, and believing in love all shined within this story. I truly hope to see more from John McCarney his love of people and his passion really shines through in this beautiful story.

Beautiful story set during the middle of one of history’s most important events, the Space Race of 1957. Animal lovers should know that the author of Laika is a huge lover of animals himself and has a little pup of his own named Laika. It was this beloved paw friend that inspired him to write this amazing story. A great read!

A great short read about the space race between the USA and Russia. Does competition win over love? You will have to read the nicely written book to find out!! I would highly recommend it.
